Yes agreed. On my VZW 700wx only PDA net works.
USB modem fails and above instructions fail. Quote:

OK Verizon users I changed the subject line to this thread sorry it doesn't work for you. I only have a Sprint model 700wx and this works fine for Sprint users. Maybe someone will find a way to help but for now it looks like PDAnet is the only other alternative to paying Verizon

Re: Still having problems...
I too only receive "Error 678: The remote computer did not respond" the first and every time I try to connect.
![]() I suspect maybe I have the wrong driver, as installing the Sprint PCS Connection Manager required a reboot, but left the hardware in an unresolved state (with a yellow exclamation point). I had to go thru the Add Hardware Wizard to resolve this, which found a driver on the CD that came with the Treo700wx. It is now installed as: Modem - Palm Treo Modem (COM5) (note that this only appears when the modem is connected and Modem Link is activated) Sprint PCS Connection Manager only sees the Treo700wx when Modem Link is Active (I left it on USB Connection). Here's what the Device Info & Diagnostics says: Palm Treo Modem Manufacturer: Palm Treo 700w Model: PocketPC Firmware Version: Palm; TREO700WX;108;14929 Phone number: Not Available Active Vision User Name: Not Available TESTS: Communication Port Presence: COM5 Communication Port Configuration: 115200,N,8,1 Communication Device Presence: Initialized FAILED: Phone Capabilities: Attached device may not be data capable Phone Configuration: Configuration set. ?: Phone Battery Status: Status N/A Phone Signal Status: -116dBm FAILED: Sprint PCS Network Availability: No Service FAILED: Network Service: Not Supported Note that this test is being done in an area with good EVDO coverage, where I had just moments prior been using PIE to browse the web. Also of note, I recently said Yes to an over-the-air upgrade from Sprint. Here's what Settings -> About now says on my Treo700wx: Software Version: TREO700WX-1.13-SPNT Hardware Version: A Firmware Version: 108 PRL ID: 20226 SID: 4106 The only thing I noticed changing is that my PRL ID is now up one version from 20225. That, and my access actually seems slower, as verified by dslreports.com/mspeed (down from high 600's kb/sec to mid 200's). Can you folks that have this working compare setting with me? Any ideas on what might be wrong? Thanks for any input you might have. Quote:

Good mornin guys!
I am hoping somebody here has a solution to my problem that I'm experiencing....I've been goolgling and reading forums for several hours now, and I still cant find anything so it's time to post now lol. First off, I'm leaving for Arizona in 13 hours and will be gone for 12 days which is why I am tryin really hard to get this internet workin again on my laptop. Here's my current situation/status - Laptop is running Windows vista home premium, and I have a Treo 700wx w/sprint service. last week I got everything setup per the instructions on treocentral w/vista and everything was workin great for about 5 days. I did a hard reset on my treo because I had installed a bunch of different stuff to try out and then hard reset it to install just what I decided to use and have a fresh start. Now, when I tried to connect to my laptop tonight to verify everything was working before I left tomorrow, the laptop sees the phone and its in the device manager but after about a half minute or so, the phone disconnects from the pc. if I unplug the usb cable and plug it back in, it shows up again for about 30 secs and then goes away. I was doing everything the exact same as before when it worked for the past 5 days. Steps I've taken so far include - -soft reset on treo -running a system restore to before I installed the treo drivers/configured for using the phone as a modem and went through setup process again. (had to be quick as usb modem would dissapear shortly after I started the install process) -uninstalled verizon bluetooth stack (incase it was causing conflicts somehow - it wasn't installed when I didn't have any problems before) What would you guys recommend I do to try to get this workin before I leave tomorrow? I would really really like to have this for my trip ![]() I was even going to install XP Pro instead incase there was a problem with vista somehow, but my XP cd is cracked from the center ring out about 3/4" and wont read anymore so that isn't even a option... One other side note is that I ported my nextel number over to my treo phone about 8 hours ago. I can make/recieve calls with my ported number on my treo, and go on PIE but I can't recieve any text messages. Also, when we went into that ## menu with customer service they had me enter a temp number as the device phone number instead of my actual/real number for the account. Could that have anything to do with it do you think? Thanks guys! I'm really hopin to get this working....I bought a sling box specifically for this trip and it would make it useless to not be able to use internet on my laptop with my phone. |

Not stock, some users have reported as being able to BT DUN by installing hannip's A2DP files from the Verizon 700wx. Check the FAQs thread for a link to it.
