Hi folks,
I am a newbie to this forum, but I have been using PdaNet for over 5 months with my Treo 700WX and I just read a post at TreoCentral referring to Big D5 posting above. So I registered now and wanted to post a thank you note here.
Big D5 write up on connection using Treo driver from Sprint and modem link is precise and very easy to follow. I did exactly all the steps and have been connecting ever since using this method without any issue. The first thing I did after connection was to check out the connection speed at various sites and see if it is up to EVDO standard.
A few of the speed test websites like:
www.dslreports.com/mspeed,
www.2wire.com,
www.speedeasy.net, performance.toast.net, and
www.speedtest.net were used. The results were just amazing. Between using PdaNet and this method described by Big D5, the latter approach appears to be a lot faster and more stable.
So far, I have yet gotten my Treo frozen up or disconnected like it has been happening sprodically with Pdanet, even connecting through VPN account or downloading hugh files. I really wanted to say this is indeed a great discovery for me, and I do appreciate Big D5 sharing his knowledge on this. Great job!
Cheers,
Tony
