Re: How to use the Sprint 700wx as a modem
Actually, I had it working halfway through the attempted installation of sprint's communication manager. There's one critical step after the phone is connected and that was to use the "ModemLink" application on the 700.
The way I got it working was pretty much what palm shows at this link (even includes the necessary .inf file for windows.) But PDANet is so quick and painless and the license is for the phone, not the pc, it's trivial to install the client and it just plain works without a lot of hoops. |

Re: How to use the Sprint 700wx as a modem
I did it w/o any Connection Manager. Make a new Incoming port (i used #8 ) , Make a new dial up, select your bluetooth modem (not internal) which is hopefully the same port as the new incoming port you just created. Obviously the no. dialed is going to be #777. Make sure the 'net is not active on your phone (tap connection on today screen and select "disconnect" if active), then use dial up connection and it works fine. Condensed version but thats the basic idea..... piss on pda.net. Bluetooth w/o it connects at 115.x and pda.net is only like 35.x. Plus save 35$........

Re: How to use the Sprint 700wx as a modem
I do believe that you'll need the inf file from the download I pointed indicated to enable the "external modem" in windows. I didn't have the performance issues others have seen (although I don't get great coverage at home anyway) when moving between direct and pdanet.
I will admit that bluetooth did seem much slower and ate battery so fast that I always pull out the USB now. |

Romeo 5k, it works on my vista pretty well, and I just followed the instructions. Make sure when you download the driver and software from the sprint web site you choose vista as your operating system...other than that you shouldn't be having any vista related issues.
