Re: Will they finally admit it??

WEBOS rocks, i used mogul, vogue, diamond, touch pro, snap. i took me a while to get convinced to get the pre. But overall, as far as functionality i would personally give it a 10/10. i have had for a month now, and had no glitches or freezes like i did daily with my windows mobile phone. The pre does everything i want it to do, and the display looks terrific. oh yea, the pre does not look girly at all, if anything i would say the htc diamond does!!!

Re: Will they finally admit it??

Stock ROM issues are not a characteristic of the OS, but rather of the carrier's take on it. I have a Pre, iPhone 3G, and a Diamond. They all have their drawbacks, I would hardly say I was completely happy with any of them right out of the box. I have found that I can take steps to make my Diamond, EXACTLY the way I want it with all of the freedoms of WM, and to a lesser degree, the Pre, and finally to the littlest degree with the iPhone. I don't like stock ROMs, but I do like WM, and I hardly find it slow. BTW, I have had plenty of instances of my iPhone and Pre lagging on occasion.

Re: Will they finally admit it??

for the most part it's not microsofts fault. they hand all the info an list of options to the carrier. they're the ones that F up the roms.
if we got them straight from microsoft, I'm positive they'll be a million times better "out of the box"

on a side note, the other day I installed windows7 on my laptop after many furious moments with vista. I suggest everyone to do the same!
(go to everythingdiamond.info, in the offtopic seciton I have a thread with links to get windows7 professional for $30 for people that have a educational email. )

but seeing how much of a vast improvement w7 is, and how it's keeping me from going to linux(it was microsofts last chance with me), I cannot wait for wm7.
If they do anything near the amount of little enhancements that make the overall experience as much more enjoyable as w7 is than vista or even xp! and linux! and MAC! (yes, i've used all, but not alot of linux, that was the next venture when my programming languages get done being ported over). or if they do as much performance enhancements, or visual improvements as they have,
windows mobile7 will be taking the iphone on head to head, phone for phone.
just wait and see....

+1. If WM7 is near the level of improvement that is in W7, we won't be disappointed.

1 more thing, I think WebOS is awesome, but if Palm still struggles to get mind and market share, it won't be around for long and there won't be much continuing development. Android will be the OS to beat, and its the one of which I have the littlest exposure. Thinking of swapping my iPhone to get a Hero...

@smoove21

Where are all these threads asking for SPB, sensuite, or whether they can put Android or WebOS on their TP or TP2?

I think 1 rom comes with SPB. Other than that, I see no mention of anything you are saying...

The Pre is a fine phone, but don't go making stuff up. For every single thread that has anything you speak of, there are 50+ other threads that do not. Percentages are kind of important here, wouldn't you say?

He's not making it up. There a sh!t ton of threads about it. Not to mention the fact that, even if there are "50+ threads that don't for every thread that does", thats a stupid arguement. Thats like saying that, for every phone produced, there are 50 chargers produced for it, therefore chargers are the more popular thing. You need to understand that for every one of those threads NOT about making WM like webOS or Android, there are 49 that are related to hardware issues. Percentage is kind of important here.

regardless of numbers, the fact remains that the main bulk of modifications done to a windows mobile phone are performed to achieve the functionality of an Android or WebOS device. In the diamond forums there are a lot of threads about porting android to the Diamond or implementing specific features from either WebOS or Android in WM. I don't care about numbers or percentages, i just know the threads i was reading. On a personal note, i would like to add that the past 3 or 4 years of owning a WM phone, i was only striving to achieve the level of ubiquity and functionality of my HTC Hero. Android is just better. Period.

Ok, so you saw those threads. What does that mean? Oh, only that WM phones are capable of such things, so why not start threads discussing them?

I too have read the threads on the things you speak of, and they aren't THAT abundant that everyone's rushing to get away from touch flo or WM.

BTW, congrats on liking the hero. It really looks like a cool phone. I went and played with one in a Sprint store about 3 different times. All 3 times I felt rushed because everyone wanted to try it! I definitely got to try the touch pro 2 a lot without people waiting though.

I really liked what I saw on the hero, but it felt only slightly less clunky than my touch pro. It was just a few steps behind the pre though.

Isn't it great we have these options now? lol
