Re: For those who have a Pre...

I don't understand why people would even want these type of phones and not want a data plan. That's the only way you will be able to use your phone to its fullest potential. I'm glad the carriers started making people place data plans on these phones duh that's what there for.

^^ Most of us have unlimited data, but they are older plans that Sprint doesn't offer anymore.

Re: For those who have a Pre...

if you can find a way to pay lower prices and get what you want do it, if threating to leave a company gets you what you want do it. cellular phone companies are not your buddy, ur pal or ur friend, they are a business, and everythings negotiable, they gonna give you only what they can afford, and these companies do the price pressure tactics to their manufactures, ask any Wal-Mart providers.

In case you dont Know you can ask for the nvp program i am a sprint employee and for a list of companies sprint offer discount to the monthly bill like for example Fed EX employees have a 25% the army have a 15%. The only plan that do not get discount is the Simply Everything plan. Go to your sprint store and ask about this maybe you work for a company that have discount and you dont know about it.

I can't blame Sprint for this at all. They instituted SERO because they needed to get saved and for people that act like somehow Sprint "owes" them for the fact they went SERO is ridiculous. People using that plan got as much out of it as Sprint.

Now, SERO is not in Sprints best interest at all. They could be jerks and essentially disallow renewals on a SERO plan, phasing it out that way for everyone without a choice. They're not doing that. If you have SERO or something akin to it you're more than welcome to keep it. HOWEVER, if you want to upgrade to the latest and greatest tech then you have to make the CHOICE to go to a different plan. This is the only way they'll be able to phase out a plan that is simply not cost effective to them while at the same time not completely shafting their customers and frankly I find it laughable to see people complain about it as if Sprints OWES it to them for any longer than their contract.

Maybe I'd feel different if it was a jump to the exorbidant fees of AT&T, but the everything plans on Sprint are just about the cheapest ones you can get out of the four major carriers.
I agree, the fact of the matter is that Sprint is not benefiting from having people in SERO plans, if you want to keep it, you can, but that will limit you from getting the new data phones they offer, and I assume this will apply for all the phones that are coming out from now on. Also, they will not budge about giving you discounts or anything by switching to the new "SERO", which are the new Everything data plans, for $60 or $80 (believe me, I have tried, I even talked with a supervisor from retention and nothing) because the fact remains that their plans are way cheaper than anything else being offered by other carriers and they know it.

I guess I'll stick to my 49.99 sero plan
No kidding . me too. +1

From what they tell me is that since the employees can not get the phone for 60 days they will not allow any plans but the current everything plans. From what they understand is after the initial 60 days they will be able to get employee plans for themselves. Hence the computers will allow for "other" plans. They did not specifically tell me that I will be able to use my sero plan but hinted that I should not get rid of it so soon. They say sprint has locked the esn's for all pre phones for 60 days so that you are forced to upgrade your plan. After that, it's all fair to satisfy any customer. Now I dont know how much of this you will believe but it does sort of make sense. These guys had the pre to sell to me but told me to hold on to my plan for a while, so make of it what you will.
I can conquer. I got the same info from the RAD guys at my local store. For the first 60 days the Pre is under an exclusivity contract between Palm and Sprint. No one else can carry the phone so that it drives business to Sprint. During that period Sprint is forcing customers to choose the most lucrative plans for Sprint. I can't plame them for that. It's a for-profit business with shareholders to answer to.

However, I'm on a $39.99 SERO plan + 2 corporate discounts, and a handfull of other little nickle-n-dine discounts for various reasons. I don't care if the Pre could suck me off, I'm not ditching my plan anytime soon....
