I can't blame Sprint for this at all. They instituted SERO because they needed to get saved and for people that act like somehow Sprint "owes" them for the fact they went SERO is ridiculous. People using that plan got as much out of it as Sprint.

Now, SERO is not in Sprints best interest at all. They could be jerks and essentially disallow renewals on a SERO plan, phasing it out that way for everyone without a choice. They're not doing that. If you have SERO or something akin to it you're more than welcome to keep it. HOWEVER, if you want to upgrade to the latest and greatest tech then you have to make the CHOICE to go to a different plan. This is the only way they'll be able to phase out a plan that is simply not cost effective to them while at the same time not completely shafting their customers and frankly I find it laughable to see people complain about it as if Sprints OWES it to them for any longer than their contract.

Maybe I'd feel different if it was a jump to the exorbidant fees of AT&T, but the everything plans on Sprint are just about the cheapest ones you can get out of the four major carriers.
I agree, the fact of the matter is that Sprint is not benefiting from having people in SERO plans, if you want to keep it, you can, but that will limit you from getting the new data phones they offer, and I assume this will apply for all the phones that are coming out from now on. Also, they will not budge about giving you discounts or anything by switching to the new "SERO", which are the new Everything data plans, for $60 or $80 (believe me, I have tried, I even talked with a supervisor from retention and nothing) because the fact remains that their plans are way cheaper than anything else being offered by other carriers and they know it.

Re: For those who have a Pre...

I can understand the sero, but not being able to keep legacy consumer plans is bad.
guess loyalty doesn't count anymore.

hope they don't do this with other new phones on the horizon.

oh, well, only adds fuel to the carrier independent devices fire.

edit;;; ok I just read propagandax's link and it looks like you should be able to keep an old plan

Re: For those who have a Pre...

I was on an old Fair and Flex Family plan and I had to switch over to a new plan all by myself... even though I already had a data plan, I couldn't just update to Everything Data.

No big deal, the new cost will be somewhat offset by what I will be saving on the data plan, text plan and additional line charge I was paying for on the old plan for the Mogul I had.

I got the same plan as Zyphlin "450 Simply Data plan" for $69.99, I also get my business discount of 20%. I was also able to fenagle my nights and weekends to start at 6pm for no additional charge, albeit I had the same deal on my old plan.

i personally would fight it tooth and nail, but I could careless about the pre. nowhere does it say you need an "everything data plan" just data plan. shady, shady.

Re: For those who have a Pre...

FWIW many people are reporting that they are able to get their SERO plans transferred to the Employee Referral Everything Plus plans. It's $59.99 or something like that, but it's still better than $99.

I got my Pre activated on the Everything Plus Family plan which is the same as the Everything family plan but for a cheaper price and extra minutes. The new SERO plans aka EPRP are compatible. Only problem is the store can't activate them on this plan. What I did was let the store change my plan to a regular everything family plan, even though I already had the EPRP plan on. Then I called the EPRP number and was able to get them to switch it back to the EPRP plan.

Re: For those who have a Pre...

The only plans compatible with the Pre are any of the everything data/data share plans, everything data, and one particular business plan(i forget the name of it, business essential sounds right) If you'd like i can list the pricing for each plan.

Re: For those who have a Pre...

For anyone who has the sero plans, I work close to a sprint store and got to know the guys that work there. From what they tell me is that since the employees can not get the phone for 60 days they will not allow any plans but the current everything plans. From what they understand is after the initial 60 days they will be able to get employee plans for themselves. Hence the computers will allow for "other" plans. They did not specifically tell me that I will be able to use my sero plan but hinted that I should not get rid of it so soon. They say sprint has locked the esn's for all pre phones for 60 days so that you are forced to upgrade your plan. After that, it's all fair to satisfy any customer. Now I dont know how much of this you will believe but it does sort of make sense. These guys had the pre to sell to me but told me to hold on to my plan for a while, so make of it what you will.
