Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

Yes I am very pissed and I can't believe they don't have it on these type of phones...as much money as they cost. I will be speaking my mind on the petition....and I'll throw in not being able to get call back tones either. Oh and I was just wondering...can you send mobile to mobile pics on the sprint website still? (In the pic mail section)...tried to get on it this morning and the site is down due to billing changes or sumthin like that...was just wondering has anyone tried before the site went down. Take care. 1 luv.

Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

Yes you can still use picture mail on the web but it still can only be sent to a sprint customer only or to an email address so it is not a true MMS service.

Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

I started a similar thread on another site

this was my reply from sprint when I emailed them

Dear ,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you regarding feature of the handset.

I apologize for the inconvenience. I noticed that the Ut Starcom PPC6800 is active on that account. And, this do not carry the mms features. But, we are receding the same remarks for the handset. When this facility will be available on the handset. We will sent the information to you. I can not provide you any date for this. The charge of the mms depends on the plan active on the handset. When the MMS facility will be comptable with the plan only than any charges can be describe for the same.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

Here is another exchange with another person

Dear ,

Thank you for contacting Sprint. I apologize for the inconvenience that you have experienced with Picture mail.

Upon review of your account, it has been determined that your handset uses the MobileWindows operating system. Mobile Windows is not compatible with the multimedia services from Sprint. These services can include Picture Mail, VideoMail, and Sprint TV.

You can send pictures and video clips to other devices via email:

1. Ensure that Messaging is set up to send and receive messages.
2. From the program, select the item you want to send.
3. Tap Menu > Send, and select one account (such as Outlookemail) to send the attached item. (A new message is created with the item attached.)
4. Enter the recipient name and subject, and tap Send. The message will be sent the next time you synchronize your device. Pictures and video clips are saved automatically before they are sent.

I have checked to see if Rev A is available in your area and your area has already been upgraded to the new Rev A speed and you currently have the most recent PRL update that automatically installs the Rev A update to your phone. Therefore, you should have the Rev A. data speed on your phone.

A external GPS receiver is required in order for you to be able to use the GPS Navigation feature on your phone. A GPS receiver can be purchased at any best buy store, Garmin.com or Telenav.com.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or need assistance by replying back to this e-mail.

Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I am sorry, but I don't really
understand that argument. Why sell a device with a camera if it cannot
function like a normal camera phone? Furthermore, Sprint saw fit to include
a link on the home screen for me to download and purchase musicfrom the
Sprint Music Store. How is that a "higher function work related feature"?
Of course, it isn't, but it just might make Sprint some money, so I guess
that makes it a worthwhile addition?

The problem with sending pictures as email is that I do not know the
carriers that all of my friends use. I can't send a picture from my phone
to their phone as an email (ex: 212-555-1111@mms.att.net) unless I know
which carrier they use.

On an unrelated note, when is the software that will include the EVDO Rev. A
and GPS upgrade going to be made available for download? It would be nice
to use my phone to at least some of its fully advertised capabilities!

Matt

Dear ,

Thank you for contacting Sprint.

I do apologize for the issues you are having with sending pictures on your
Mogul, and for any inconvenience this has caused you. I will be happy to
assist you with this matter.

The Mogul is a smart phone, and its design was focused more on the higher
functions of work related features, such as email, word, ect, so the picture
mail function was not one of those things that was as much in focus.

But fortunately, there is a way to do so by simply sending via email as an
attachment. I am sorry for any inconvenience this caused you, sincerely.
Please write us back if you have any further questions or issues with which
we could be of assistance with.

Thank you so much for contacting Sprint. We truly do appreciate your
business.

Question: Why is it that a device that retails for over $500 (my Mogul)
cannot send picture mail (only emails with attached pictures) yet the bottom
of the line discount camera phones sold by Sprint can send picture mail??

I think it is odd that a device that costs less than half of the Mogul
should have a feature that is basic to ANY camera phone, yet the Mogul lacks
this ability.

Sprint thinks it is ok for me to have a link to their music download service
on my phone, but not to be able to easily send picture mail to my friend I
guess!

Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

I was watching television yesterday and Sprint had a commercial advertising their new unlimited plan. What I found interesting is that the new CEO some guy named Dan gave out his email which is Dan@sprint.com and added that if we (customers) have feedback on their products, feel free to drop him a line. So I did and got a response that my comment is being reviewed and that someone will give me a call within 48 hrs. I say this to say that maybe if all of us people who are frustrated with Sprint make a fuss, maybe they will listen. At this point what do we have to lose?
