Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

Existing customer get the same deal as a new customer 22 months after last upgrading. You should be close to the upgrade date if you got it when it came out. Granted upgrading to anything better would leave you still at a loss for MMS.

Call.. and File a formal complaint...

I just called Sprint.. primarily to increase my minutes.. but at the same time complain about the MMS BS.

As always, if you want anything to go your way you need to be level headed and courteous.. and above all don't raise your voice or yell. It's not the Sprint REPs fault. This is what I did .

I talked to a REP named "Nina" (or is that Neenah?) and she was surprisingly helpful. After changing my plan she asked if there was anything else she could do.

"Well, yes, I would like to file a formal complaint.", I said.

"OK, what is your complaint?", she asked.

"Recently Sprint has blocked all Pocket PC users from using PictureMail, or any other MMS stuff. It was working, and now it isn't.", I said.

"Really!?" she proclaimed.

She was Genuinely surprised... the fake "Sprint Robot tone" went away and she asked where I had received this information.

"If you have the internet in front of you, go to www.ppcgeeks.com"

She did. I told her to Hit the search tab and type "Sprint Denies picmail".

Currently, 2 Threads come up that are filled to the brim with info. We talked about and visited: this thread, the petition at buzzaboutwireless, and the sprintusers thread.

We spent 20 minutes talking about MMS.. half of it, me guiding her on the internet. She completely agreed and couldn't understand why Sprint would do this. She called over her manager, and another call center employee to come read about and see what I was talking about... in the background when the manager came over I heard her tell Nina "I didn't know that".

So at the end of the conversation she actually thanked me for letting her know about this.. and that her manager was letting everyone in the call center know about the MMS issue (Looks like they didn't get the memo). She "Escalated" my complaint and said she would do everything she could...

On one side it was good to know that some people care about their work, and in Nina's case it was good to just talk to her person-to-person... instead of the common person-to-Service Rep.

On the other side.. This thread is getting sort of old now.. and people have been calling, emailing, and canceling their plans over this. Isn't it absurd that I was the one that let a whole call center know about this? I think so.

Thanks. That is what needs to be done over and over and over. Until Sprint realizes that this is a huge issue with severe repercussions, and needs top priority. Beat them to death with it. I'm personally calling them every few days. Since you get different people almost every time, the word will spread. Call them. Post on buzzaboutwireless.com and anywhere else you can.

Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

That's funny I did the same thing about 3 weeks ago ( not the look up on the internet part ) but call and file a complaint. They said the same thing that she new nothing about it. I know that they have more than one call center and alot more employees than a hand full. But just odd that they all kind of say the same thing " never heard of that " or " i will make note of that " anyway I wish like eveyone else that they will just fix the issue and be done with it.

Re: Sprint Denies PPC customers from sending picmail

I just talked to my buddy and he has the 700p. He can still send picturemail. I could be wrong, but so far, it seems that its not necessarily PPC phones, but the software. in most of our cases, WM5. It still seems to work on the Palm OS phones. Hmm, I think my phone is missing. Must have lost it. I have insurance so i'll just get a replacement. Maybe i'll "downgrade" to a cheaper phone (700P). Some how I don't think they'll mind sending me a "cheaper" phone. Saves them money right?

no, they mind, you get what they give you automatically in the system. the reps have no ability to alter that. otherwise users like you would abuse the system to get new phones all the time. they won't even give you equivalent unless none of the same model are available. it is people that do this that got the monthly raised to $7.

it is a windows ppc issue, palm os launched with the ability to send mms without needing a hack if i remember right. thus it was not blocked.

Abuse? You really wanna go there? I may not have been a Sprint customer for long, but I think NINE YEARS of being a customer means something. I've had the same number since day one. I've always paid my bill and ever had my phone "accidentally" turned off. I've also paid my insurance for all of those nine years and not once filed claim. I've steered at least 8-12 people from other companies because I have had nothing bad to say about Sprint and even praised their service. Especially when I go out of town to different areas. When no one else has a signal, I have all of my bars. I've upgraded my plan over the years and have upgraded my phone over the years. I've gotten the free month of service here and there so I never really complained much. So excuse me for being upset that they would block something they have nothing to do with. But honestly, I think it's bigger than that. The WM phones are the only ones that are blocked. The Palm OS phones are not. Same phone, same provider, different operating system. I wouldn't doubt if Microsoft had something to do with it. It's all about getting paid. Everyone that put this on their phone knew that they couldn't call sprint for support on it. But I, like so many others, are paying for it on monthly Vision Plan because they misled us. Yeah, our "plan" includes PictureMail, but your phone doesn't provide it (which is the part they didn't tell us). I'm the type of person that keeps my phone for as long as it's usefull to me. Years ago I thought it was a waste to buy a camera phone. Then I later bought one. Years ago I thought it was a waste to send text messages, I just recently upgraded to unlimited texts. Years ago, what in the world would I do with a phone that allowed me to get on the internet? Now I wouldn't know what to do without it. My daughter lives out of state and she would love it when I would send her goofy pictures of myself or of anything around me because we can't be together. Now that's gone because although we're paying Sprint for something they don't provide, they blocked our avenue provided by someone else because they aren't making money off of it. But they are. Does that make sense? I've ranted enough. I'll see if my phone is missing tomorrow.

Maybe, but as much as it burns my ass that they are blocking functionality, I'm still nowhere near ready to pay 2 or 3 times as much just so I can send MMS as opposed to email.

This will be true only when Verizon has reasonable data rates or a plan that can compete with SERO.

I miss MMS as well but if its that important to you get a second line with the $30 SERO (I read a $15 plan may be comming in a nother thread) and get small flip phone or something with a decent camera and use it only from sending MMS messages. $30 + $30 is still WAY cheaper than you will get with verizon for 500min(Only 450 with VZN) With Unlimited Data (79.99 per month) + Unlimited Txt (15.00 per month). You could bump one of the SEROs to 1250 plan and still cost less.

It boggles my mind that someone would leave sprint SERO for ANY other plan for ANY reason.
