Post Well...

...Until we have confirmation from some who has been successful, I think a word of caution from Chris Price (www.phonenews.com) regarding this change:
Quote:
Reducing fees can no longer be considered for a breach of ETF. The Advantage Agreement was updated awhile back to say that material changes must negatively affect you... and a drop in monthly charges cannot be considered to do that.
So...anyone have any success?

Thumbs up Had Success

Actually they are adding one small fee to the contract. so that would be a change of contract from their side. I had some success using that.
basically called *2 and went thru the options to cancel contract. i guess it took me to retention. I asked the about this whole thing about change of contract. first she dint know about it. then she came back and said it is only a reductioon in fees and more over these are government taxes and stuff. So this does not qualify as a change of contract. then i had to point out that small other fees they are adding. she went back to talk to someone and came back saying the magic words- "what can we do to keep you from canceling".

Actually I am kind of late to the SERO party. so i switched to a sero plan using this as a reason. I have been with sprint 7 years. nothing too much to complain tho i have had my moments. So i called with an intention to get a good deal and not cancel. you may be able to cancel if you want to get out.
Rex.

This is good news. I signed up for a SERO account but still had about 5 months left on my old contract. The CS rep said that he would call me back, and try to swap teh numbers on the two accounts (allowing me to transfer my old number to the new account). If I manage to get that I'm going to try and drop the old account.

I'd definetly be interested to hear more succes stories with this.

Could you keep the same number if you transfer to a sero account?

Just an update, I just got off the phone with retentions concerning this, which there is actually a note about on my last bill on page 2, they said they are not going to start doing this until you see your January bill. If on your January bill the changes took place then you are eligible. So I guess this is what they mean by customers who are "affected" by this change. Hope this helps.

When I called in three weeks ago, only one out of three Retention reps knew about it, even though one said that there is a current email about it. I was bound and determined to switch to VZW (all my friends are on VZW), but the last rep offered to give me 1000 minutes on my shared plan for $50 and free texting and internet, so i stayed.

I was able to drop my second line that I barely used a few days ago. I just email Sprint, and in three short emails everything was taken care of.
