Get Out Of Your Sprint Contract(no early termination fee)
Sup guys for those looking to get out of your sprint contract..dslreports.com has an article on just that.. hate to divert people of ppcgeeks , but I found this could be very usefull to some.
(Taken from Dslreports article written by karl) "Get Out Of Your Sprint Contract Fee changes should void your contract 08:46AM Wednesday Dec 12 2007 by Karl tags: legal · business · wireless · Sprint Broadband Direct Yesterday we mentioned that Sprint was fiddling with some of the fees on your bill. Thanks to legal pressure from a lawsuit accusing them of misleading consumers with "unfees" -- or below the line charges dressed up as government-mandated fees. Sprint is renaming several of the fees, and it would appear that this technically constitutes a change in your contract allowing you to cancel service without an early termination fee: Sprint's current policy as read by account services: "On Jan. 1st 2008 Sprint customers who have been affected by the fees will have their ETF waived if they wish to terminate their contract. There will be no post-dating of cancellation where the ETF will be waived as only customers affected by the new surcharges will be eligible." So if you've been looking for a way to ditch Sprint without penalty -- you just got one." http://www.dslreports.com/shownews/G...Contract-90166 and http://consumerist.com/consumer/cell...ard-332782.php |

to know if you ahve been affected. If I'm understanding it correctly. As long as you recieve a bill. The idea is that the label for the charge is misleading. To the effect that you were mislead by recieving a bill (several in fact) where the charges were mislabled. Than it constitutes a contract violation on sprints part. At least thats how it reads to me. The easyer way for those of you who don't know is simply to call sprint and tell them that you are moving out of the Sprint coverage area.

Secondly, you stated that I can just call Sprint and tell them that I am moving out of their coverage area...well, wouldn't they need proof of that of some type?? I think the first method is easier but just need to know EXACTLY what I am looking for that says I am affected. It does say on the left side of my paper statement that there will be changes in my bill; but I am sure thats just a common note to all their customers. |

Call them and tell them you dont agree with the changes and you want to cancel because it violates(or is not the same as) the TOS agreement you signed. You may have to be persistant. You may evan have to ask for a supervisor. It works. They are changing the rates/structure and you have the option to say, No thanks, bye.

...Until we have confirmation from some who has been successful, I think a word of caution from Chris Price (www.phonenews.com) regarding this change:

Actually they are adding one small fee to the contract. so that would be a change of contract from their side. I had some success using that.
basically called *2 and went thru the options to cancel contract. i guess it took me to retention. I asked the about this whole thing about change of contract. first she dint know about it. then she came back and said it is only a reductioon in fees and more over these are government taxes and stuff. So this does not qualify as a change of contract. then i had to point out that small other fees they are adding. she went back to talk to someone and came back saying the magic words- "what can we do to keep you from canceling". Actually I am kind of late to the SERO party. so i switched to a sero plan using this as a reason. I have been with sprint 7 years. nothing too much to complain tho i have had my moments. So i called with an intention to get a good deal and not cancel. you may be able to cancel if you want to get out. Rex. |

After several calls to Sprint customer service, including talking to supervisors, I was told that the contract is violated only when the changes "ADVERSELY" affect me. IN other words, I will have to wait for my first bill after 1/1/08 and then compare that with the previous bills. Then, only if there were any Sprint surcharges which resulted in an increase in the bill, was I eligible for getting my ETF waived.
Persistence led me to write to them, and here is the written response I got from Sprint ecare. Need help. As of now I do want to stay with Sprint, and just want to change to the SERO plan. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, esp if you could also PM me with the same.... " Please allow me to explain once again. The change in contract term is effective from January 01, 2008. Thus, the change in charges due to these changes will reflect on the next invoice. Since the changes will be effective from January 01, 2008, I request you to wait till you receive your next invoice. If there is an increase in charges on next invoice, we will apply the credit and will cancel the services without any early termination fee. Thank you again for contacting us. XXXX X. I got out of my Verizon kind of like that. I was getting a lot of dropped calls because my phone had a tiny internal antenna. Every time i got a dropped call I would call them and complain. After a month, they let me go without termination fee. I've yet to get a dropped call with my Mogul
