Not enough of one for me to unroot or switch to a different and less stable rom. The new radio would be nice, but it's not worth giving up what I've got to get it at the moment.

Does the new radio have anything do with the gps? but i agree not worth giving up all the nice features of a rooted droid.

No need to give up root to get the new radio. It has already been provided in an update.zip file and will change anything in your ROM when you install it except the radio. You can find it on alldroid.

As far as I know it does nothing for GPS.

I figured there would be one, but I haven't had time check around. I'll take a look.

And yeah, the radio does nothing to the GPS. I haven't had any GPS issues either.

No real problems with Gps at all for me. Just when my gps is turned off my droid shows me two streets over from where Im at, so when people look at me on google Latitude they always ask why im not at home when I am. I dont know much about how this stuff works but I figured it might have something do with the Radio. I remember back in the day of flashing window phones if you didnt have the right radio installed the gps wouldnt work at all, but then again that was years ago.

One other question has anyone had a promble updating Google Earth? When i goto update it says CPU ABI Incompatibale. Dont know whats wrong i installed fine when it came out but now it has update problems.

Your position will show up inaccurately when you have your GPS turned off because it can only use aGPS (assisted GPS) until the GPS is turned on. Why not just leave it on at all times? If you'll notice, when you first run maps it will show your location a tad off from where you actually are until it gets a real lock and jump to your exact position. The first inaccurate location is triangulated by cell towers to give the real GPS a head start and speed up lock times.
Also, Google Earth has been having issues with the update. That's why I didn't install it yet. I'm sure they come out with a fix very soon.
