Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped
Looks like it's official now on Verizon's Support site. If you go to http://support.vzw.com/clc/index.htm...29&m=&x=20&y=9 and click on software updates, it will take you to http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downl...zon%20Wireless

Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped
For anyone that's concerned about the official ROM from Verizon vs. the one posted here in advance, the .NBH files are identical. No worries (not that I had any, but it's always good to check just in case, right?)
I have had some performance problems with 3.04 of late, not sure if it's something I'm doing that I wasn't before, I seem to have to power the device off and on again more often, like every 2 days, to restore overall performance. Worth it for the improvements!! |

Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped
I always soft re-set my phone when I get up in the morning just to give it a fresh start. Less problems during the day.

Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped
I wonder why we all leave our phones "on" at night while we sleep in the first place? Why don't we just power down and give them the night off? Don't ask me; I leave mine on all the time too...

Re: New ROM VZW 3.04 Shipped
I may have identified a potential cause for the battery problems with the updated ROM. After updating to the 3.04 ROM, and waiting a few days for the battery meter to re-calibrate I started noticing that my phone would occasionally get warm and the battery was draining much faster than before the upgrade. I tried adjusting a few things like switching away from push email for my exchange server, but the problem persisted.
This evening, I installed some tools and found that the process mflo_starter.exe had consumed a large amount of CPU time over the past 24 hours and was spinning at about 30% CPU usage. I'm not sure why this didn't impact me before, but I think this is related to the battery problems that surfaced for me with the new ROM. In case this helps others, the following thread helped me get rid of this process (which is related to Verizon's mobile TV application that I never use) as well as the mobile TV icons. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=90838&page=4 I installed the PHM registry editor and deleted both the "Depends95" and "Launch95" values under HKLM\Init, as well as added an exclaimation point as a prefix for the "Dll" value under the HKLM\Services\MFLORSSI as described on the linked thread. After rebooting the phone, the offending process isn't running and the icon is gone. Hopefully this will resolve my issue -- and potentially help others. Thanks again to those that posted this new ROM which fixed the 3G issues. |
