Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

I've used both of vin's roms, manilla and non-manilla. I love them both. I'm currently on the manilla one and I may go back to the non manilla for a change. Keep up the great work Vin!

Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

Which "issues" does NFSFAN's rom have with Manlia besides the home screen weather and End button not going back to home tab.

(These are issues that can not be fixed?)

Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

In nfsfans, manilla I can't add my home weather to it. It keeps giving me unable to download data or something like that. With vins, I have no problems adding my home town. I just clear all the weather data, then add my city using the weather tool, and it downloads no problem. I do the same thing with nfsfans and weather doesn't download.

Arrow Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

I tried them both over the last two weeks. Here are some of the things that I noticed. I primarily run Manilla:

NFSFAN (V1.00):
- Exchange email didn't work for me out of the box, requires a patch
- Leaks memory. I find I need to soft reset my phone every day or two depending on my usage. Memory starts out low, around 50% and slowly gets up to the upper 80's, even with no apps running.
- The latest version seems to have some trouble with internet sharing over Bluetooth. That may or may not be an issue for you.

VIN (23081):
- Lock screen didn't work for me and actually seemed to hang my phone.
- Requires you to find and install MS Office and Live on your own (not a huge deal)
- Has newer version of EzInput keyboard (way better IMO)
- Manilla skin is not as nice as the default one that NFSFAN uses, also has some custom icons. This is purely my opinion, yours may vary.
- Doesn't have a task switcher integrated. This is as much the fault of MS as vin, but it make 6.5.1 unusable for me.

*Has newer version of EzInput keyboard
The new one has bugs. We try to keep unstable items out.

*Exchange email didn't work for me out of the box, requires a patch

Explain?

Bluetooth/memory=ill look into it.

Thanks for the bug report. 1.01 will come and address bugs in 1.00 and perhapes upgrade to the latest 6.5 branch.

6.5.1 at this point is in our books not worth it yet. A beta may come out.... like we said. For now due to time 6.5 gets the focus.

Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

My mail server runs Exchange 2007. I had to run the i780Patch that I found on the following thread to get it working. I think it may have something to do with the way my administrator enforces policies on mobile devices.

Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

How about the best ROM for my elderly parents that both have a touch. Something stable and easy to use, not too complicated. PDAJ's clean ROM?

Re: Best WiMo 6.5 ROM?

I ran NFS's rom for quite some time and never had any trouble with my exchange server.
I can't really comment on the amount of free memory since i am still kinda in shock from getting a new touch pro 2 (it runs really high on % memory used), but i dont remember my vogue ever running over 70 with a few apps open. Opera is usually the largest culprit for me and the NFSFAN version of opera is just the best.

1. Export stuff from Outlook
-File --> Import and Export --> Export to a file --> Comma Separated Values (DOS)
-Then Choose what you want to export. --> Save file wherever you heart desires.

2. Import on Gmail.com
-In Gmail go to contacts.
-Click Import
-Open the file and import.

3. Sync with Android
-If you didnt sync your gmail account with the phone at startup then just open gmail and sync.
-If your already synced with your gmail account your contacts should appear shortly.

and your done.
I realize he said he needed sms and call history too but if anybody else only wants to sync email, contacts, and calender you can use gmail just like an exchange server
