I agree with the OP - there are apps out there that are much better than TF - but for my usage TF fits the ticket.

That and I did not have to buy a diamond to get it thanks to Vet and all the other devs that got it working, tweaked and skinned!
don't get me wrong, I'm amazed that we have it, and I like a lot of it--I just wish we could "bend" it to be more power-user-friendly...

I'm going to give that Second Today a shot... but I really wish I could just replace the TF main page with my own...

I may end up taking off all this fancy crap when I get the Pro, because it will be more than powerful enough to run a custom Throttle Launcher/etc-type setup, and it can be totally-customized...

Re: Why all the fascination for TouchFlo 2D/3D?

If you really want other Today Screen apps, then why not use something like Ultimate Launcher? I haven't tried it with TouchFlo2D, but it worked great with the HTC Home plugin.

You can set as many sides as you want, each with its own today screen app, or app shortcut, then you just swipe your finger from side to side to make it rotate to the next today screen (like you swipe up for the cube, only sideways).

This way you could have TouchFlo2D the default side, then create other sides and rotate them as needed.

When I had this on my Touch I didn't notice a whole lot of memory usage either, but I'm sure there's some overhead. I had HTC Home on one side, TodayAgenda on another page, then an app shortcut page.

EDIT: And I completely agree about the SMS/Email tabs and the functionality of it. I would much rather have a button to press to just open POutlook to the account I want to view (similar to HTC Home).

I like the way TFlo2D runs and how smooth it looks, but I really only use the main tab, the contacts (which functions alot better than HTC Home), and the app launcher (and it lets you have more apps than HTC Home).

Re: Why all the fascination for TouchFlo 2D/3D?

as soon as i realized it took away my GPStoday, i removed it... it just was a pretty wrapped package... it offered nothing new... ate up more memory... and for what?
i agree with scrapmaker...

I wish I could take parts I like from tf2d and add them to the original home...

basically, I just hope this doesn't take over all the custom roms....

Re: Why all the fascination for TouchFlo 2D/3D?

So I installed SecondToday, and it's great! My only complaint is I don't have enough hardware keys to assign it to one. I wish I could somehow replace the cube with this.

I think I will look into ftouchflo... I seem to remember being able to launch programs with certain swipes. I could just make it launch secondtoday with an upward motion. That would solve nearly all my problems--aside from only seeing one dang appointment on the home screen.

I also wish that when I hit the end key, it went to the home tab...

Re: Why all the fascination for TouchFlo 2D/3D?

TF2D is clearly an aesthetic upgrade, and nothing more.

I'm running just because it looks good, and has all the information I really need.

I lost Today plug-ins, but who cares? GPSToday really isn't that great. If I really care about somebody, I know when I'm close to them anyway. I don't need a Today screen plug-in to tell me. The only Today plug-in I really miss is my Pocket Sportscenter.

Manilla isn't going to please "power users", but honestly.... if you're a "power user", you shouldn't have a Vogue anyway.

TF2D does what it claims to do, and it does it well. There is limited functionality, but it's not THAT limited at all. If you need all that extra functionality, yeah.. get a Touch Pro, and disable Manilla.

^ lol

GPSToday does more than just tell you you're near somebody......

I AM a power user and I HAVE a Vogue. I tried a Mogul for several weeks and did not like it so I went back to my Vogue.

I'm hoping, like post #14 says, this doesn't takeover all the other ROMs.

GPSToday not only gives you instant-acess to your location on a moving map, but you can do just about everything you can with google maps and live search. It also geotags all your photos, geologs your location, AND tells you how far you are from your nearest contact... (automatically pulls it from your contact database.) It even lets you send your location via SMS, if I remember correctly.

I would use it if it ONLY tagged my photos--it's just a bonus that it does all that other stuff, for zero dollars.

For now, I'm pretty satisfied with TF2D, and SecondToday. Can't decide if I am going to stay or not... I REALLY like the contact and launcher pages, almost enough to put up with the other annoyances...

I have heard you can disable certain tabs, but I couldn't find a way...

Does it really work with UL? I have an UL set up I love, and I agree with the OP that M2D is mainly for show but it is cool enough, I just can't justify losing UL...how does it work with UL - do i install m2d and make it a tab within my UL set up??

I'm not sure how it works, as I stated in the first line, I haven't tried it with M2D. I would imagine you would do the same thing you do for other Today apps, install it, DO NOT turn it on in the Today settings but rather make a new tab in UL and set it up in there.
