Finally Skype works on Voque

And it does work, just not with the new skype!!! Using the 19209 build vogue kitchen, I've gotten Skype 2.2.0.18 to work on my xv6900, along with working gps. The sound quality is not the greatest, but it beats nothing at all. What I did was build a rom with the ppcgeeks kitchen, selecting the 19209 kitchen. From there I installed skype 2.2.0.18 (cab attached) to the storage card (doesn't matter if there or main memory). I knew I'd used it on the vogue before!

I have the .45 version working on my sprint touch for chat only, no voice in or out.

My problem now is that I'm in over my head with Rom's and kitchens...
I used the leakes sprint Rom so my GPS is working and it seems to be WM 6.1, but how do you use / what is the kitchen... is there a ROM built that has WM6.1, GPS enabled and works with the .18 beta version of skype?

check out www.ppckitchen.org. Read read read. Also check out the threads here on ppcgeeks re: the ppckitchen. By using the kitchen, you'll be able to build your own 6.1 rom with what you want in it, and that will having working gps and skype. Once you download from ppckitchen, you'll definitely want to select the 19209 build if you want skype to work. I've not gotten it to work with any later build.

well i downloaded your attachment, but i still get the "skype could not start" thingy :-\

I got the same error as well, I'm using NFSFAN's Bell rom which is based off of 19209 so technically it should work right? Maybe there is something that he changed in his rom (and was subsequently changed in all newer roms) that is affecting skype?

look under settings/about - what os build do you have? Also, built from the ppcgeeks kitchen??

its build 19208.1.0.1 and no its not from ppckitchens. its NSFANS sprint rom.

apparently there is something about the 19209 build that Skype 2.2.0.18 works and it doesn't for any other vogue wm6.1 build. Maybe you can get NSFANS to compare the two. I don't know anything about these type of things so I can't help. Just reporting my results.

in that ROM's thread it says:

19208.1.0.1 ROM

Do I miss something?

it is in fact a very attractive opportunity - to cook for yourself.

I'm completely new to this ppckitchen.
I've downloaded and installed buildos,
however, among the files available in "updater" the closest number
is 19588 (and there is nothing about 19209)..???

Will you please give me a hint what files to download for Bell Touch,
to have skype-compatible set?
