A test that I did in all rooms of the house - I charged the phone immediately upon getting home, then unplugged before bed and placed the phones in each room.

Come morning, I checked and documented each phone's battery.
Blackberry has no percentage indicator, just 6 bars, 6 being a fully charged battery.

Blackberry does push email - I average 18-20 emails a night. These nights were no different.

XV6900 checks Gmail every hour - I average 3-4 emails a night. Again, these nights were no different.

No calls came in any of the nights I tested. No outgoing calls were made.

Master bedroom:
XV6900 - 90%
BB - 6 bars

2nd bedroom:
XV6900 - 100%
BB - 6 bars

3rd bedroom:
XV6900 - 90%
BB - 5 bars

Master Bath:
XV6900 - 90%
BB - 6 bars

2nd bath:
XV6900 - 90%
BB - 5 bars

Dining room:
XV6900 - 60%
BB - 3 bars

Computer room:
XV6900 - 90%
BB - 5 bars

Kitchen:
XV6900 - 80%
BB - 4 bars

Garage:
XV6900 - 80%
BB - 5 bars

As you can see - in the dining room, the battery life was significantly less than in the other rooms.

I can't walk through the dining room without the signal degrading horribly, in about 50% of the cases the call was dropped. This has been the case with Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Nextel, Boost, Metro PCS, and an Alltel phone from out of town.

Feel free to do a similar test in your house - may be interesting to see what differences you'll see from room to room! Of course, your milage may vary!
Maybe you have ghosts in yer dining room... and the calls degrade and you loose signal/battery so much because they are trying to communicate with you.. but maybe you just arent listening.. i suggest a sacrifice... maybe a goat.. or 2 chickens.. that should take care of yer problems!

LOL it's probably the ghosts of all the cows and chickens that we've eaten in that dining room

wow do you live THAT far out in the boondocks that you need a signal booster? If so.. you prolly own some land.... what i would do is call sprint and tell them you are willing to let them toss up a cell tower on yer land for a small fee.. that way everyone wins!

Mine lasts anywhere between 7 hours (very short!) and almost two days... I try to run it down to calibrate the battery as much as I can...

Yeah mine really depends on how I use it and what ROM I use.. I am building a clean ROM and so far the battery is real nice! So I am getting pretty good battery life.. Data just kills it though

Re: Anyones battery actualy last a full day?

So, is there any agreed upon proper charging technique? I'm looking to get an HTC Touch, and I want to take good care of it from the start. A lot of people are saying a lot of different things, so I'd like to clarify and sum everything up...

I usually just leave my (non-PPC) phones charging whenever I'm home. I've got my charger sitting on my desk, and whenever I get home I plug it in, where it stays plugged in until I'm ready to leave the following morning. That means it's probably plugged in for 17 consecutive hours assuming I'm out of the house for 8 hours. I haven't ever had a PPC phone before, but I haven't noticed these practises damaging my regular phones' battery. Based on what I've seen around the net, that isn't a good idea?...

What about using the Touch while it's plugged in (like if I'm sitting at my desk trying out new applications or something)? Is that OK?

What's the best charge point to plug it in? 30% battery power, 10%, etc?

Are there any exceptions to anything above for the first few charges?
