the first time you charge(for about 12 hours.. you do not have to but it sometimes is a good idea).. it should honestly matter but what I would do is let the phone die completely then charge it.. do that atleast 2 times then charge normally My battery gets real hot to just warn you idk if anyone elses does this... i am taking it in... but yeah.. also just dont always let it die.. my batter is at 20% right now.. im gonna shut it off and charge it up

Re: Anyones battery actualy last a full day?
I did some careful reading about batteries and found a pretty interesting site. If anyone's interested, here are some excerpts from http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm about charging lithium-ion batteries. Although I'm by no means an expert, I've evaluated to the best of my ability what the important bits mean for us before each quote if you don't want to read it all.
About overcharging: (summary: Simply not possible unless you have a defective and hazardous battery.) Quote:
About over-discharging: (summary: Letting the battery die completely permanently damages it. For safety, your Touch's battery indicator is not a true representation of the charge remaining in the battery... more on this later.) Quote:
About priming: (summary: Well, this is short and self-explanitory...) Quote:
About charge readings and more on priming: (summary: There is a digital circuit in the battery that acts as a "smart" charge meter. To prevent complete discharge and the resulting damage, this meter reads 0% before the battery is actually dead. This point is when your device powers off. Back to priming... once again, it's fairly pointless.) Quote:

This means that the near-complete drain technique messes around with the smart meter a little bit, since it's an adaptive device. From what I gather, bringing the actual charge of the battery down lower than what the smart meter had previously set to 0% will set the new actual charge as 0% on the smart meter. While this may slightly improve the time your battery can run without a charge, it is not healthy for the battery and will shorten its lifespan. |

Re: Anyones battery actualy last a full day?
I have horrible battery life. I think it may be my S2U2 settings... NOT THE PROGRAM.. the program itself is great!
I think some of the settings options are confusing, and I'm unclear as to what all of them do. Anyway, that's my best guess. It's the one program I have in common with the people complaining about their batteries above. |

Re: Anyones battery actualy last a full day?
When I flashed to Dharvey's Black Vista Rom (verizon 2.5) I began having problems with my battery draining fast...I mean right off the wall charger fast, dropping from 100 to 98% almost immediately. Here's a list of things I've done that seem to have remedied the problem up to this point.
1) I've always used Battery Status Advanced to get an accurate reading as well as monitoring any power drain (Ma/Mw) 2) Used Advanced Configuration Tools to Disable Obex & all 5 power management options. 3) Turned off automatic update in HTC Weather (HHC Home Customizer) 4) I have always turned off Gps when not use(This should go without saying)as well as turning location off. (Use BAF Gps Toggle to turn Gps Off) 5) Also this particular Rom has the 1% battery tweak so whenever the battery drops you see every increment instead of Huge drops, so it takes some getting use to. 6) I also make sure my screen is turned off when not in use, but when its on I like my screen nice & bright! I'll sacrifice some Batt power for that. 7) I set my email to be checked automatically once a day (that works for me, but maybe not others, I don't email a whole lot) Also I've never noticed SU2 causing problems but its possible. I have noticed Wisbar causing a noticeable drain so I don't use it. Maybe I'll try it again to be sure. Now I can text, call, email, surf, use Gps, & generally play with my phone & have 54-59% left at the end of the day. Also I rarely listen to music on my phone, when I do I'm down to about 40-44%. If my man I read in an earlier post is getting 5 days off of one charge I'd like to know how.

I have the extended battery purchased for $12 on ebay.
Lasts me 4x as long and takes the same ammount of time to charge. VERY GOOD INVESTMENT. IMO |

Re: Anyones battery actualy last a full day?
i dont know if your a newbie, dont mean to offend if your not, but ALWAYS check to see in connections that the "receive incoming beams" is unchecked (off). Makes a tremendous difference in battery life! LIke I said not to offend anyone, but you know windows, resets, etc! LOL
