i think you have to tether your phone with your pc to run the speedtest i tried it with the phone by itself and couldnt get it going as far as i know you can only do it with your pc thru your usb connection on your phone acting as a modem dont quote me on this thought im very new at this.

Re: How to know when in Rev A?
Go to this site on your phone from PocketIE:
http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed Then you can do a speed test without tethering. As for knowing if you're in a RevA area or not...thats something I'd like to know how to find out as well. |

Re: How to know when in Rev A?
BlkCat, I just installed the 2.8 rom that might have been released today. This installed worked properly and so far the Touch seems to work better (just an impression, no real data yet).

Re: How to know when in Rev A?
OK, so using the dlsreports.com speed test above (with the 1MB file) I just got 895 kbit/sec.
Feels pretty good to me browsing various web sites. |

Re: How to know when in Rev A?
ran a couple tests on that site and I get around 630kbits a sec.. Supposedly here in Eugene we have rev a. It's too bad the little indicator doesnt specify rev.a

Re: How to know when in Rev A?
Don't trust download test when using proxied browsers like Opera. That displays the bandwidth from the test site to Opera's servers.
The best way to tell if you are in Rev. A is to get your upload speed. The easiest way to do that is to tether to a computer to test. Anything above 153 kb/sec up is Rev A. Try to tell the difference between Rev 0 and Rev A from download is very difficult, since the changes weren't that big. That being said, if you manage to get a download burst greater than 1.8 mb/sec, you are once again assured to be in Rev. A coverage. |
