I've made the switch myself. It was fairly easy... just had to go slow and not pry anything apart with a lot of force. http://www.howardforums.com/showthre...&page=10&pp=15 Last edited by jwoolz48; 07-31-2008 at 03:27 PM. |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
I bought the XV6900 on the day it came out, didn't see any cracks for a while.
I noticed the other day that I now have a horizontal crack between the D-pad and the end button. I haven't dropped the phone and have always kept it in its case. The plastic in the crack seems to have just crumbled away. |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
cracked at the volume slider after 2 weeks and phone was not dropped etc... took back to vzw store and told them this was common (from these blogs) they checked their "system" and it was not a common problem. "tech" said i should not follow these blogs cause they get it wrong often. guess who i believe...
they did however replace the phone. so far after two weeks or so, no problems... maybe they fixed the cracking. at this point i have too many mods to let a small crack bother me if it reappears? |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
i had a crack in my first phone just below the volume slider, returned it (modified- didn't bother downgrading spl and flashing stock rom) for a new one within the 30 days. now i have a crack in the new phone just above the camera button. what a piece of crap the housing is.
i don't know why people are paying $50 for a insurance replacement- you can order a new sprint housing for less than that, no? |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
I have two Telus vogues (mine, wife's). BOTH have identical crack at top left by the power button. Took them into the Telus store, rep basically accused both of us of dropping our phones. Took one for replacement under warranty but suggested we should expect a $500 bill for it "if HTC determines it is due to abuse".
That kinda gets my back up when I "might" get a $500 bill for "warranty" service. If you're planning to bill me, I want a definate answer on that before I surrender the unit for service. |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
I had read about this issue right after I first got my XV6900 a few days after the initial release of it. I stumbled across it again today and just for ch1ts and grins I took my phone out of the case and looked - sure enough, there is a damned crack just about the volume slider on the screen side of the case.
I guess I'll call my local Verizon store up and see what they can offer. |

Re: Known Verizon Issue with cracked outer casing
Since Tropical Storm Fay had most businesses closed today, I'll have to wait until tomorrow to bring it up to them.
Here's some photos of the crack - and a chip in the paint just below it. Never been dropped - spends most of the day hooked to up either my home or work PC on the desk, and the rest of the time on my belt in the leather Verizon case. |
