Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

Im using 3.7.10 radio with omj's previous rom and i get decent gps reception... I just prime the gps with gps today and within a min I'm locked and reday to go... i turn on TT6 and it locks in seconds... I have loaded and unloaded programmes for days and there has been no change in my gps reception for days.. So far so good... it makes me leary to upgrade to 3.7.15 radio as this set up seems to work quite nice for the moment..

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

OK guys I have a little update,
I have got gps working again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope I didn't just jinx myself. So after a bunch of mucking around I am able to get locks in under 10 seconds. How did I do this well I can't be totally sure but I'll tell you exactly what I did today:

1. I changed the gpsmode to 4
2. I tried loading up quickgps again (with the hacked registry and all) and got it to connect and work. I'm not sure if this actually did anything because my gps didnt work right after I did this.
3. I set gpstoday settings to use data when needed, and use cell tower approximations, keep device awake when in persistent mode, and i set the minimum fix quality all the way to the left.

4. Now I think what I did next actually did the trick: I went into advanced config and disabled the "use agps" and then reset. I tried to use gps after bootup and nothing locked (I think it was still seeing sats). So then I enabled the agps in advanced config and then reset, I turned on gpstoday, went to gpsviewer and bam!!!!! gps locked 4 sats after about 2 minutes. Now this is in the window of my apartment on a very rainy day in halifax, and I think it would be better outside. I have since soft reseted my phone and it now will lock in under 10 secs at the window!!!!! Not only that but deeper inside my apartment (where I usually didn't get any gps locks before) I can actually lock onto 2 sats (at least something) from a soft reset within 10 secs. AMAZING!!!!

Pretty stolked right now I hope this lasts haha. Now is this all a fluke? I'm not sure but if you are on bell or any other carrier (with OMJs newst rom) and your gps is having trouble, try doing those exact steps. Hopefully it will work for you too!!!

BTW, thanks for putting up with all my rants about gps!! I am gonna post this in OMJs thread too, hope thats ok with the moderators. I just wanna get this info out in case it helps somebody!

cheers,
Dan

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

Good going earthdan, I don't know why had had all the trouble to start with but it is good to see you got it going, I just flashed my wifes Touch from stock to 37.15/OMJ v.2 and had to mess with the gps settings a little but it took like 5 minutes and I got 4 sats from the window. Started gpstoday, google, nothing and a reset, so start gpstoday, gpsviewer, google maps and bingo, it is working

I am using radio 3.35.04 and JD hybrid rom. GPS worked fine for a few days then it just would not lock. Tried this advanced config disable/enable and I am locking 4 sats again from inside my house with google maps.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

Still getting 0 satelites in GPS today, and a very vague ottawa-area lock on the map.

In other words no change.. I was using a cooked bell oem rom, I am going to try OMJ's as a final hurrah and then i'm calling it quits, this has consumed my entire long weekend.

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

No idea what hapened but somehow it's locking in satelites left right and center, wo ho!
I didn't end up flashing but it came in perfect while I was waiting for my battery to charge to 50% so I could flash.

Earthdan I think your tweaks helped out!

Re: Bell Mobility Users ROMS?

sweet thats awesome, I'm so glad somebody else has found that it works. It must just reset the drivers or something, haha, I have no idea tho. It will be great once the real radios and drivers come out for us bell users, but until then at least we have something. Has anyone tried the gps out while driving yet? Before I could drive around and it would follow me pretty well and I'm curious to see what the performance is now
