this happened to me also... but the fustrating thing is that its not always visible so you have to have perfect timing for sprint to actually see the problem and not get the "i dont see anything wrong with the device" excuse lol
i sold it with a newly added screen protector for a partial cover up and never looked back |

Dear Basel
Thank you for contacting Sprint. I will be happy to assist you with your inquiry. After reviewing your account and email, the rainbow effect on your device is from normal wear and tear as my supervisor showed me on his HTC Touch. He advised me that this is normal wear and tear when touching the screen to access or start an application. You can call Asurion and they should be able to handle your request for a replacement. If you have any questions or concerns, please include them with the above information. Thank you for being a valued customer of Sprint. We appreciate your business. Sincerely, Edwin M. Sprint Original Message Follows: ------------------------ hello i am emailing you today because of an issue with my htc touch. i noticed a rainbow effect on the phone. so i went to the local sprint store ( corp ) today and waited over an hour to be called, another hour while the tech checked out my phone. i was told the screen was like that because i sweat on it or i got it wet. now that is not right since i use a blue tooth 99% of the time and if so this is not a good phone than. anyhow i did some research and i am stunted it happened to others and was an issue known by many. unlike me they got it exchange and i did not, the tech even went as far as saying i can not even use tep for the problem., i can not have a phone in such state and be told there is nothing to be done. please help me. check out in these sites that report the issue. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=screen+broken http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...rainbow+screen |

Re: Screen Broke! What is this? (Pic)
I can tell you that i had the exact same thing happen on my phone.. it isn't moisture, it's torque on the screen. I had mine replaced via mail and am doing great with my new phone. I also put the Zagg shield on the body and screen to help with the cracking problem and screen getting too easily scratched.

Re: Screen Broke! What is this? (Pic)
Same thing on mine...it seems like it could be the plastic faceplate over the LCD screen that causes the problem. On mine at least, when you apply a little pressure at the base of the faceplate (over the sprint logo @ center) and at the top of the screen (near the speaker), the oily appearance recedes...only to return when you release the pressure. Maybe a manufacturing defect where the faceplate wasn't fastened to the phone properly.
I had the sprint people tell me everything from "it must be your dirty fingers" to "the screen absorbs sweat from your face...I used to be a tech, I know these things." Pretty annoying, but not worth $50 to replace so long as the phone keeps working. |
