Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

well, went and tried GPSviewer on my lunch break. I started the program, waited about 15 seconds, and BAM 11 satelittes. Started live search, clicked on center on gps, and it locked in about 2 seconds. Started google maps was locked onto 7 sats in less than 2 seconds. This is crazy cuz nothing else worked for me. Im gonna highly recommend this program and im gonna post my results in the other GPS vogue threads. Im stoked now!!!

Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

I "downgraded" to the 3.35 radio thinking that it would help my GPS issues... but it hasn't. How do I upgrade it to the 3.37 version without have to fully flash the ROM?

I understand that I"ll loose my info that's why I haven't really installed/restored any of it. I'm using OMJ's Custom ROM and just want to go through the hassle of installing the Alltel one and then back to OMJs.

Thanks.

You could always backup your data using PIM Backup
There Should be a problem
then just go through the steps to get the GPS working and restore you PIM

Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

If you guys are in an area known to have gps. Try this. Soft reset phone. when the phone boots Do NOT let phone go to sleep. As soon as you can... open google maps, and use gps with it. It should put you just to the left of Africa. Set you phone somewhere where you get good reception, and leave it there for up to 45 min. I kid you not, it actually took this long for me to get a lock. Now i get a lock in like ten seconds. Until i soft reset. This could all just be luck though. Who knows, all i know is i could never get a lock in the last week and now i can.

Re: 3.37 radio vs 3.35 radio

I get a 1-2 minute initial lock but sometimes after closing a program and then reopening it to use gps again it says it can't find the gps and then i have to soft reboot for it to find it again. If i don't have to soft reset, once its done with that initial 1-2 minute lock it gets it within 10 seconds.

But the biggest plus... MY DROPPED CALLS ARE GONE!. No more signal faded BS, although occasionally the voice completely goes for about a second or two, either the person can't hear me or I can't hear them... it happens less often than the dropped calls did.. so I'll take the audio going out for a couple of seconds and then repeating or having them repeat themselves then dealing with calls being dropped like crazy. Seriously i had it drop the call 3-4 times within 3 minutes a few times.

On a long conversation i noticed the phone getting decently hot... warmer than usual. It was a long convo (hour) though. And also during that call the person i was talking to mentioned that there was a loud "wooing" sound, sorta like on the old analog radios with the dial when you use to turn it and it would go from static to that wooing noise near the station. It was supposedly sorta loud too.

I can't really comment on battery life... I never really paid much attention but it seems similar or slightly worse.

GPS viewer works better than your method. If for some reason your GPS software thinks it is in Africa, it will start searching for the Sats but it will take a long time to find what it needs. Once it gets an initial lock, it will find them faster because it is using a starting point much closer to where you really are. I highly recommend GPS Viewer or GPSToday095 as a primer. They are both free and very effective.
By the way, GPS is available all over the globe... Obstructions to the sky are what limits you.

Are you using 3.35 or 3.37?
