I really cannot figure out how to get GPS running in android.

((I am running Windows mobile Verizon wireless 6.1 MR1 rom with the Valhalla gps fix for the xv6900. gps is working (not aGPS, just GPS) in windows mobile, under google maps, and anything else that can be managed by windows mobile.
I really don't want to flash to a custom rom, I like the 6.1, and really don't want to brick or void my warranty in any way.))

Any advice, or special tricks you used to get gps working under android??

will this work on an htc touch flashed to cricket? or does the service provider have nothing to do with the android update?

It has been done but not with great success. Things that will work are talk, text, and possibly web browsing. Thing that won't work with out the HTML data plan or the broadband work around are Google maps email and most other widgets.
The reason why is Android is built to operate through a Mobile IP and cricket operates on a Simple IP.
More on it can be found here http://howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1605309

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

I went to the 1st post and seems to not be updated...? Or is it true that it's only partially working? I'd hate to read 116 pages to find where everything works (at least on Sprint network?) I have one of these phones and would like to play around with android on it... It's a Sprint branded Vogue with Altel case (just love that grey look!)

I can tell just what I know is this. Sprint should work Talk Text internet GPS but probably not MMS.
You have listed as your carrier Metro and Boost.
Last I heard Metro had talk text and web browsing but no GPS, market, other apps/widgets and no MMS. As for Boost I don't have a clue, they might be using Sprints setting after all they use the sprint network.

Imagio on metroPCS and Boost CDMA on Touch Pro2 is what I have, I call it Sprint, I have the TP2 on it and everything works, even MMS (arcsoft) all I had to do was change the server address from "http://mms.sprintpcs.com/servlets/mms" to "http://pcs-boost-mmsc-submit.sun3.lightsurf.net" and it started sending just fine. I can receive just fine with or without changing the ROM... The Sprint Touch (vogue) will be my next thing to play with. I have 2 different CDMA accounts one with the dreaded 3128 port and another one without any port limitation (boost)

Can someone get a few links and have a MOD update original post with latest & greatest installs & instructions? Maybe someone should start a new thread with updated info...

Re: Android For The Vogue Is Here!!!

Howdy all, I’ve been trying multiple platforms of android on my vogue...all ran from the sd card (sorry, but until android has Bluetooth I will not completely give up my WinMo), and I have come to understand that I like 1.5 Ion or 1.6 Donut, with a slight edge to Donut because it just seems to be faster and a slight edge over Ion as far as working bells and whistles (google's talk to search, gps, etc.), but I have also noticed that the marketplace in Donut seems more limited. For example in Ion I can download search and download Pandora and other popular apps no problem, but with Donuts marketplace Pandora and other popular apps cannot be found. I've heard that it maybe because 1.6 Donut originated/developed for the GSMs, but I don't know if that makes any sense. Has anyone else experienced a limited marketplace for 1.6 Donut? Which Android builds have you been running from the sd card?
