Also... I want to make sure that these don't cause battery fires!

You can't go by "they are li ion.." as they are all the same or are safe.

Remember the recall on the batteries made for Sony and Apple, where the laptops would catch on fire or burn the person's lap?

Japanese cells usually have higher quality standards, even if assembled in China, but there is the mosfet to consider.

What caught my eye was this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA:IT&ih=012

They claim twin mosfet on their battery.. I am not saying it's better or recommending or suggesting using buying this one over the other, just shedding some light.

I too am considering buying the 2x 1400 from the OP auction and a wall charger. I am looking to see if I can find a wall/usb combo charger and also looking at the various dual phone/battery cradles..

So now I was wondering if the mah rating is different on batteries that work on 3.6 and 4.2v as well.. In other words does the mah rated on the battery pertain to the voltage rating required by the equiptment or is the manuafacturer claiming the highest mah and the lower voltage use?

What strikes me is those cellnet 900mah batteries.. why would someone want to buy a battery that is less than stock?

Re: I got my 1400 battery from ebay

I bought these same 1400mah batteries about a month ago and have been very happy thus far. The batteries I received were white and they were branded "SIDO Infinitive Power".

I conducted a quick test to get an idea of how the capacity of these Ebay batteries compares with that of the stock battery.

I ran the test as follows:

I charged both batteries to 100% capacity. I then ran acbPowerMeter. Using my land line, I phoned my cell, answered, and then left both cell and landline phone off the hook. The point of that was to bring power consumption up to about 300ma and thereby speed up the test.

What I was looking to see was how many total mah's it would take for the capacity meter to drop from 100% to 90%. I reasoned that whatever number I derived could be multiplied by 10 to get the actual total battery capacity (i.e. if burning 100mah eats up 10% of the battery, the total battery capacity must be 1000mah). I imagine that 10% may not be enough of a sample and that I should have tried 20% or even 30%, but I didn't have the patience to wait that long. Maybe I'll test again in the future.

My Results:

Stock battery: 10% drop = 113mah. Estimated total capacity: 1130mah.
Ebay battery: 10% drop = 136mah. Estimated total capacity: 1360mah.

It looks therefore as though both batteries fall within range of their respective capacity claims.

I also want to mention that in addition to the batteries described above, I've purchased this other pair of batteries on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/za244-2X-Battery...QQcmdZViewItem

These are rated at 1300mah, but are made in China. Based on my experience, these batteries are complete junk and should be avoided. The casing on these batteries started to come unglued after just 2 days of usage!

Huh? You just said they lived up to their claims? I ordered these, but they haven't arrived yet... If they work and are living up to their power claims... yay! Can you tape the casings? Are they dangerous? I don't want the big battery with the corresponding big back and the big price. I like the fact that I can get more battery for little price... Are you really having buyers remorse?

DJ

PS. $13 including shipping for 2 x 1400mAh batteries? What a deal!

Re: I got my 1400 battery from ebay

Read what I wrote. I'm referring to 2 different sets of batteries.

The first set (1400 mah) are very good and are the ones discussed in the thread. The second set (1300 mah, see link), I purchased from a different vendor that also happens to be in HK. This second set sucks.

Unhappy Re: I got my 1400 battery from ebay

I bought a 2200 battery from ebay two months ago, I then stored the stock battery. After a 6 wks the purchased battery died and will not charged at all. Even plugged in and left plugged in for a while I would go back and check if its charging with no success. Not to mentioned that when the battery died it also took out my micro SD card, now the SD card is not readable and I cannot format it throught the phone nor the PC. Good thing it was the stock 512MB card, not the newly purchased 4GB. I've read many success stories with these batteries, however that was not the case with me. Just wanted to share that with the forum.

Thanks for the tip, I was just thinking about getting a set off this vendor, he has one with a wall charger included. I wanted to test against the 1400 ones..

Re: I got my 1400 battery from ebay

Hey yall i've bought and tested the 2200mah battery from ebay (eforcity - white and have "3.7V Li-ion BATTERY PACK / FOR HTC TOUCH" written on it)

All I can say is that is complete bull , its not 2200mah its the same size as the stock battery so no new back-cover needed or included.

I tested it, I looped an episode of south park on my stock battery (full brightness) and it lasted 4hrs 15min

The 2200mah one lasted 3hrs 30min so go figure, ah well it can still be used as a spare I guess, on the plus side the shipping was fast (5 days from order) and it was only $10 overall.

but the batteries being discussed arent from eforcity, infact i was just about to purchaas a set from that seller, glad i didnt, instead the order has been placed for the etimuek seller...but im hoping that if someone does end up getting a 2200 mah battery from etimuek, it does what it says...because eforcity batteries havent recieved the best reviews.

Re: I got my 1400 battery from ebay

I noticed the auctions that are linked in this thread do not mention the Sprint / CDMA Touch or Vogue. Is it safe to assume batteries compatible with any Touch will also work with CDMA touch?

More generally what accessories need to be CDMA Touch specific rather than Touch in general? For example, I know the case is larger on the CDMA Touch so cases and housings must be specifically made for it. What about the area covered by the screen protector?
