Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
We could do something like the wiki section on xda that would basically be a knowledge database for different topics of discussion. That way non-meaningful threads would be left out and only information and knowledge topics would present.

Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
I would most diffentley support the idea cause trust me the amount of searching i do is out of this world and some of the things seem to lead back to different things, and a wiki section would just let me start from the beganning to the end great idea's here .....

Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
Minimally it would be nice to change the wording of the report post button which currently upon click states: "This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."
Change to instead be: "This can be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. Can also be used to report Off-Topic material you think should be considered for removal or moving elsewhere." If it gets abused then take it away, or block the abusers. Would carry more weight upon useage if the threadstarter mentions to please stay on subject, etc. However, I personally like some of the offbeat posts that puts some color in the otherwise black/white flat text. Although sometimes it's on the absurd or just plain ridiculous and should be subject to removal as stated above. Also, the idea of having a one-stop-shop clean thread that meets everyone's needs is a utopian paradigm that will not happen. New info is put on here hourly and especially things such as ROM testing is a very dynamic subject indeed. This brought me to an idea... instead of all the threads with "what works" and the "what might work" perhaps we could have a thread of "what doesn't work". I would title it something to the effect of "The Definitive What Doesn't Work (and how to fix it) Thread" Page Pool: Don't set it past ___ because___ More info on this at __ Bluetooth Explorer: Use at least v10 to help resolve file transfers.. More info at __ OverClocking Programs: They don't work on dual core processor phones such as this one. Program list of apps that conflict: ___ etc.. The list would grow and shrink as people find new problems and new resolutions. It would be a judgment call on how long a resolved issue remains on the list (or even if it makes it to the list), because practically all new versions of apps will resolve some form of issue. I'm not involved here enough to do it myself, perhaps someone else could start it and make it a sticky and I'll link to it in my sig line. Last edited by Raging Idiot; 03-01-2008 at 03:31 PM. |

Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
I am really liking the ideas in this thread. If you guys would like to start on a tutorial be my guest. I will try my best to weed out post asking for help in your brainstorming thread.
Just a few thoughts (expanding on what has been said) : I would recommend we use this thread to get started. It would be great for someone who is here often to make the post for where the work in progress tutorial will be, as they can edit the post if I am not around. After the tutorial is complete post it in its own thread and post another thread for help & questions. Put a link to the help & question thread in the master tutorial thread so people know where to go to get help if the have problems. Then just PM me and as soon as I can I will lock & sticky the tutorial thread. Question, comments, what to get going, post away. ![]()

Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
I new to all of this. When I say new. I mean everything is ouuu's and ahhh's to me. I have No formal pc/ppc training whatsoever! I am Not in a IT job. I have No friends in IT. It just a hobby that I do when I am tweaked out. So everything I attempt is basically all luck. So if I take stuff from x and some y and make "SUPER ME ROM KITCHEN". It doesnt mean anything but I tried something that you didnt. I want to be a celebrity too! And honestly I've downloaded so much S*** from every place on the web that I dont know who or where its from. But if you find that your celebrity star status is fading or just upset I didnt mention youn. Just PM me and Ill hook it up. The spotlight will be yours again!
Seriously! I would like to thank all those that shared their stuff and skills! Your guys are awesome. If you guys ever want to chat and teach a newibie pm me. I really doubt you will though. |

Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
So the question I can't seem to find the answer to is: Is anyone working one a cooked ROM using the guts (GPS etc) from REV a for the TOUCH or will we have to wait for Sprint to release one?
