Re: Challange to all the rom chefs
Minimally it would be nice to change the wording of the report post button which currently upon click states: "This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts."
Change to instead be: "This can be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts. Can also be used to report Off-Topic material you think should be considered for removal or moving elsewhere."
If it gets abused then take it away, or block the abusers. Would carry more weight upon useage if the threadstarter mentions to please stay on subject, etc.
However, I personally like some of the offbeat posts that puts some color in the otherwise black/white flat text. Although sometimes it's on the absurd or just plain ridiculous and should be subject to removal as stated above.
Also, the idea of having a one-stop-shop clean thread that meets everyone's needs is a utopian paradigm that will not happen. New info is put on here hourly and especially things such as ROM testing is a very dynamic subject indeed.
This brought me to an idea... instead of all the threads with "what works" and the "what might work" perhaps we could have a thread of "what doesn't work".
I would title it something to the effect of
"The Definitive What Doesn't Work (and how to fix it) Thread"
Page Pool: Don't set it past ___ because___ More info on this at __
Bluetooth Explorer: Use at least v10 to help resolve file transfers.. More info at __
OverClocking Programs: They don't work on dual core processor phones such as this one.
Program list of apps that conflict: ___
etc..
The list would grow and shrink as people find new problems and new resolutions. It would be a judgment call on how long a resolved issue remains on the list (or even if it makes it to the list), because practically all new versions of apps will resolve some form of issue. I'm not involved here enough to do it myself, perhaps someone else could start it and make it a sticky and I'll link to it in my sig line.
