I appreciate everyones help and opinions, but to get back on track here, I'm really just curious as to how far Sprint would go to keep me. I had heard of the SERO plane before over @ pdaphone, and I may check that option out. I do know of the iPhone's limitations. Not being able to hack it, or put whatever I want on it is a HUGE negative for me, but, it is one sexy phone no doubt.

Yep, I think the SERO may win. One oddity though, if I choose to upgrade my phone via the SERO page, the touch is $349. On the normal Sprint page, to do the upgrade is $249. Everything else seems to be the same price.

I just got a Touch. I'm a huge Apple fan and have played with friend's iPhone's and own an iPod touch. My vote is for the Sprint Touch.
The main areas where the iPhone blows away the Touch are in media abilities - this is especially true if you use iTunes - and the quality of the web browser and screen. IMHO, the Touch is better at everything else, and web browsers will begin to get released that compete with Safari, although the Touch's smaller screen will still be an issue. I'm also amazed that people say the iPhone loads web pages over EDGE as fast as the Touch does over EVDO. In using my friends iPhones over EDGE, loading web pages was much slower. I would even say that PIE on the Touch loads pages almost as fast as my iPod Touch does over WiFi. I also like the Touch 20 key on screen keyboard much better than the iPhone keyboard. Add to the mix 3rd party software like the TouchPal keyboard and I think text entry is much better on the Touch. Lastly of course is calendar and email. I use my Touch with an exchange server so the iPhone is currently useless in that area which is a huge oversite on Apple's part. Amazingly, the iPhone doesn't even sync wirelessly with .Mac calendar and contacts and only does push mail with Yahoo. To me the decision boils down to whether or not you want an iPod + Phone or PDA + Phone. The Touch is a very capable media device though. It just doesn't have the ease of use and elegance of the iPhone, especially with how easily the iPhone syncs music, pictures, and video with iTunes. |

When on GPRS the Video looks like total crap. As good as the screen is on the iPhone the Touch Video will look better on the poorer screen because of WAY less compression.

A few weeks ago when my contract was up, I talked sprint into a free touch for me, $99 plus I get to mail in a $100 rebate. They gave my wife a mogal for free (no rebate) they added vision and 1000 text all for free. I also got an addtional 500 anytime minutes. I pay $50 a month plus taxes. They must be pretty desperate.

My experience with Sprint is great, but I don't hold my breath about how far they will go to keep me... They only care about new customers from what I have seen, once you are one, you don't get the killer deals the new customers do. If you complain too much, they can and may drop you.
The few people here who have gotten great deals and free this and that are a very small percentage of Sprint users, so it is my opinion that they are not the Majority. I have been with Sprint since 1998, and have no intention of jumping ship, and have had no problems, very happy, but I don't expect them to do a dance to keep me either... ![]() P.S. Msydnor, any chance you can share you sucess story with us? That all sounds great, did you do it over the phone or online? Thanks! |

Hah I have had excellent sprint customer service and the thought of them even dropping an old customer doesn't make any sense to me. They sent me a brand new mogul in the box to replace my old mogul accessories and all. On top of that before they did such the offered me a touch for 200 dollars and where going to let me keep my mogul also...i choose the mogul because it will be a better phone in the long run than all sprints phones but that topic has been discussed. I agree with everyone on the fact that the touch is more business orientated and customizable than the iphone but the iphone does what it is said to do better and thats be a media device....as to your concern you should definitely be able to work with sprint to keep you with sprint you always talk to a hundred different people and in the end you can come to a nice solution .....o and i not had any unexpected charges on my bill since the return of the old mogul.
