Debating on going with the Touch or iPhone

I ended a two year contract with Sprint on the 6700 a month ago so was asking the exact same question. Went to ATT store and played with the iPhone. Pretty fast internet connection, nice screen and graphics. Asked the guy these questions:
1. Can I sync it with Outlook at home? Seemed like a qualified yes.
2. Can I sync it with Groupwise at work? No
3. Push mail. No
4. GPS (I use at BT outboard) no
5. Having had the 6700, I have become an avid tweaker. Can I tweak anything on the iphone. Nope
6. I have lots of great software for my 6700. Can I use ANY of it on the iphone. Nope, Nope and Nope

The guy at the store got a little anxious and tried to steer me to ATT version of the Mogul, I think they call it the tilt but I was willing to wait a few more days till the Touch dropped on Sprint to see how it was. It's great! Does it all, has it's quirks, is fun to upload software, try the hacks that people post here, change the cube, try different browsers.

I recently made a pledge to only tweak on occasion as it was occupying a bit too much time every evening.
Good luck and you won't be unhappy if you Touch it.

My father has a iphone. I have a Touch(traded in Mogul for it)We do sales so we are on the road all day everyday. I sit in the truck watching utube,googlevideo,porn and sprint tv. We get lost I pop up TomTom or LiveSearch. He can do NONE of this while on the road unless we stop near a motel that has free WiFI.

As far as looks and the neat factor i like hes more but my touch does fell better in my hand and pocket.

One more thing i can do is pop in my 2nd battery and keep on surfing.

Hes phone looks good but im sorry it just dosnt compair to what I can do with my Touch.

Ok... its kind of irritating to see people "bash" the iPhone simply because they have a PPC. There's a iPhone in my household, so I play with it all the time.

First off, the iPhone's speed kicks our ass. 800mhz!!! thats double then what the Touch has.


You have to admit that the iPhone is good for what it does. Its not a PPC... its a entertainment device. If you're really into listening to music, watching movies, stream youtube but don't wanna carry that device and a phone... then get a iPhone. Simple as that. I don't give a f*ck what anyone says on here, I'm not replacing my 60g iPod with my Touch. I have a iPod in-car sollution and I don't even use CDs anymore. Its somewhat more realistic to replace my iPod with a 8g iPhone (or the rumor'd 16g coming soon).

I'm not a iPhone supporter but I'm not bashing it either. I use to do that when it first came out... "try make people stay away from purchasing it". But I learn what works for might not work for you. This one guy at my job just bought a Touch and he's constantly asking me how to do things on it. I'm thinking to myself "yo, its not that hard to figure it out". I'm about to tell him go get a iPhone.

Even though the Touch/PPCs can do the samethings, thats not its core purpose. And honestly, the iPhone has us beat with the "entertainment" side. Yes, we have hacks to stream more then youtube... but the quality and the screen size is better.


Like I stated earlier, find out whats more important to you. Multimedia Phone or All-Around Device?

Check with your union you may still get a discount w/ Sprint on rate plans or you might be able to get Sprint to give you a SERO plan....

sj808 - I was always under the impression that Youtube mobile only showed a small amount of videos from Youtube and that the iPhone could not use the native Youtube website so how is this that you uploaded a video on Youtube and immediately found it on mobile?
