Touch not waking up from Sleep Mode for Calls and TXT

This should really not be a problem with the network provisioning. The network is delivering the message/call correctly, the phone is just not recognizing it correctly and waking the device. It could be a SW issue, but you would think they would have seen it at the lab beings it is pretty widespread. It could be a network issue but I don't see that being the problem. I see it being a SW issue, either in the ROM or somewhere else. Does it do it on non OEM ROM's?

Situation: As with everyone else here. Brandnew Touch.
I had a few apps installed, but hard reset after the first time freezing. Since then, the Touch - keeps on freezing, even with no additional software installed.

I just got off the phone with Sprin, they are well aware of the problem by now. Their suggestion, and i quote: "Go back to the store and exchange your device please. Not every HTC Touch has that problem, it's pretty much a trial and error type situation until you find one that's working flawlessly".

Ok, now that works for me for maybe 2 or 3 times where i have to shuffle back to the store and exchange the phone, but then it's getting seriously lame.

I would imagine they are trying to identify the problem and develop a solution. It only takes time.

i was shocked to learn of this issue. it happened to me just last night, with low battery, and i was thinking i needed some hard-reset or something. The phone has just been acting a little odd not delivering notices and stuff. I'm going to try and shut it down at night and such to see if this fixes the issue. Does anyone know of a way to schedule shutdowns/startups? My blackberry had this and it was very helpful and battery-saving.

I don't think that shutting it off will fix the issue. From what I can tell the only way to make it stop is get a new one. That is what I did. No issues since.

This is starting to be irritating, I really like this phone but I can't keep checking it every few minutes to make sure it's functioning.

As can be seen from the wide array of symptoms back through this thread the problem is very sporadic and intermittant. No common thread found yet.

I tested the "30% Battery" theory last night. I allowed mine to go all the way down to the Critical Battery Alarm. It worked flawlessy all the way until it finally shut off.

The only success so far posted has been the suggestion to just have it replaced. That seems to me to be the best and only solution at this time.

If it's any consolation, once reset, it doesn't happen again for quite awhile.

Well I have done the soft resets several times a day after it wouldn't wake up.

Right now, I unchecked both battery power options and will keep it plugged in while in the car or at home or in the office to keep the battery charged.

I could have it replaced I guess but I see where others had the issue on the replaced phones.

If I have to, I'll go back to my Treo until the new rom is out or a permanent fix is found.

Like I said before it doesn't seem to be a software issue. Here's the logic:

1)The software on all these phone are the same. (Same ROM image). When you Hard reset the phone without any other programs installed the problem still occurs

2) It doesn't happen on some phone with the same software

3)The hardware on all these phones are the same

4) When you hard reset the phone the only thing that is not refreshed is the programming that Sprint does on it that includes the phone number and bunch of other things. I believe this programming is not properly done on some of these phones

Can someone who has a phone that this occur on very frequently have the store reprogram it and report back. On ours it takes a few weeks to reoccur. So we can't test it and see quickly if it got fixed.

How do you know the HW is all the same. Running model changes?
