Hoshtaylor 11-17-2007 12:58 PM

You know what's F'ING great...?!?!?!?! When my brand new $400 phone DOESN'T RING when the guys who are trying to get in to my complex to deliever the $3000 mattress I just bought...I love this phone but ARE YOU F'ING KIDDING ME ?!?!?!?!?!?!?

emarketingdept 11-17-2007 01:13 PM

I just got this back from Sprint:

Thank you for contacting Sprint.

The information we have is consistent with what HTC told you. HTC designs all of it's phones to stop waking for alerts once the battery has dropped below a certain point unless you manually power the device back on. I personally own a HTC Mogul and it operates the same way.

To our knowledge, this is intentional on HTC's part to conserve power and help prevent memory loss as a result of the battery runing out.

This is not a part of the phone's design that Sprint has control over. If this is a malfunction, HTC would need to release a software update to correct it. The first scheduled software update for the Touch is in late January 2008, though we don't yet know what issues that update will address.

Thank you again for contacting Sprint. We appreciate your business.

I also spoke to a Sprint Tech who said only one person has called regarding this issue.... The only way we could even possibly get this resolved is if many of us contact Sprint and tell them that this needs to be fixed.... So in a nutshell once your phone is under 30% battery it's useless and expect to miss your calls... Isn't that wonderful!!

Hoshtaylor 11-17-2007 01:39 PM

I had a FULL battery...my mattress was supposed to be delivered between 7-10 so I had it charging overnight and unplugged it around 7:10 this morning. It is now 9:30am and I have 91% battery...so Sprint is full of sh*t !

I'm so pissed not only at the money I spent on this phone, but the fact that it seems damn near impossible to find a phone that actually works. And by the time Sprint or the manufacturer actually releases a fix...it's 6 months to a year later and I am already on to the next phone (just got done with my Mogul - that STILL wasn't working 100%).

I'll be calling Sprint first thing Monday morning when I get to the office...

emarketingdept 11-17-2007 02:19 PM

I had a Mogul as well with the same issues..... When I called tech support again this morning he said he did not know what could be done but I could exchange it for another one and maybe (but doubtfully) it would solve the issue... So I am on my way to the Sprint store again and I will let you know if it's fixed...... Either way I am not happy....

ecker 11-17-2007 03:32 PM

oh boy

please don't tell me this is also happening on the touch...its one of the biggest reasons i'm switching from the mogul because i could not find a fix for the mogul for this problem...i use to run the ilock.exe and that would haev it working fine, but now that doesn't even work... oh noooooooo ...the new treo is starting to look soo soo good

briggsie 11-17-2007 03:42 PM

i repalced my touch for a new one.its been 2 days and working great.i posted i downloaded mms and it got stuck in sleep mode,so i deleted it.no problem since

emarketingdept 11-17-2007 05:57 PM

now my wifes touch just did it with 90% battery.... So I think there is a MAJOR problem with the Touches in general.. I am going to exchange both of them but I fear this is not going to solve the issue... If it is software related I am asking everyone to contact both Sprint and HTC (1-866-449-8358) and demand they fix their faulty software!.....

I had the freezing too

My phone froze about 3 times since i got it.
Tried to wake my phone up, nothing just black.

soft reset my phone, and it did not notify me that i had missed a call.

3 hours later i had to soft reset my phone again and then the notification of a missed call, three hours earlier came up.

On another note, I cant belive how choppy and slow the scrolling in internet explorer on my ph0one is. Opera 4 mini is slower as well. My 6800 was pretty smooth with both.

Im going to disable the touch flow cube to see if that helps.

If your interested, heres my youtube clip of the choppy scrolling.

Hello,
Everyone that has this problem needs to take it into the Sprint store .
I just bought 2 HTC Touch phones 2 weeks ago. I LOVE MINE, its AMAZING
EVERYTHING WORKS . my wife on the other hand kept telling me about her phone not waking up when calls are incoming. we tried to soft reset and hard reset and everything else and nothing worked. TODAY, she walked into the Sprint Store , after they looked at the phone and recognized the problem they gave her a Brand new one iin the sealed box :) and so far so GOOOOD :)) IT WORKS FINE.
YOUR PHONE IS DEFECTIVE.
Good Luck !

alagares 11-18-2007 10:58 AM

to all that have the "not waking up for notifications" issue:

Did you installed the picture mail hack? or mms?

gmclella 11-18-2007 02:03 PM

Just a shot in the dark here, but on another forum I read that people were experiencing the "not waking up" issue
Quote:

if you have custom ringtones stored on your SD card you may miss calls if the unit does into standby. I guess the unit powers down the SD card slot so it takes some time or can't find the ringtone
I can't find the original post but I remember them saying it was not just an issue with the Touch.

JBCOBRA 11-18-2007 02:52 PM

My Touch is doing the same thing... I've missed a few calls, and most were missed at 100% battery life! The only thing I have noticed is, it seems to happen after I've used my bluetooth and then turn off my headset. I just soft reset after I've shut off my bluetooth and it SEEMS to stop happening.

All I know for sure is: It happens, and it has nothing to do with battery life!

Malatesta 11-18-2007 03:55 PM

Not that it is an official solution for these issues, but has anyone considered or tried using PhoneAlarm?

It integrates with the notification system and in fact, basically takes over. I've had some better luck with "waking up" for alerts, reminders, emails, and SMS with it. Heck, it doesn't seem as if if PA could actually make this any worse either...

Maybe someone here should give it a shot and report if it at least ameliorates these problems. (yeah it stinks to have to do that, but as a workaround it might be worth it).

I had it installed, but I've removed it and am still having this problem. I just got off the phone with my local sprint store and they've agreed to swap it out. I really hope it works...

ScandaLex 11-21-2007 01:36 AM

I think HTC needs to rethink that lie. It happened to me today and my phone was at 100% on the charger on my desk at work. I woke it up and had 4 missed calls and 6 text messages.

For me, it is the exact same thing that occured with the Mogul. My Touch is stock so associating a 3P is not the culprit. I think we need to look at the built in stuff on the device because some of us are still running clean with the issue of the Touch not waking up- no matter if its at 30% or fully charged.

gixxerguyg 11-25-2007 11:48 AM

Mine is a comeplete virgin....got the phone yesterday. Has happened 2 times...wont wake up and pushing the wake button helps none. Had to do a soft reset both times in order to get the phone back on. Both times the phone was on the charger.

EDGE23 11-25-2007 02:44 PM

ok,, my bro got this phone on friday, and does the same, also when he soft resets it takes about 1 min to find signal, hes going to return it today, possibly keep his mogul.

dew.man 11-26-2007 09:42 AM

I don't think this is a phone issue, but is rather a network issue.

joooeeee 11-26-2007 10:39 AM

This was one of the main reasons I considered switching to the Touch (because my Mogul did this all the time, and I missed important calls, didn't wake up, etc.). But now I guess I'll have to rethink this.

EDGE23 11-26-2007 02:55 PM

bro is on his second touch, ill call him later to see if it hasn't frozen. by the way my mugul hasn't miss calls or txt. could it be thanks to alltel rom? ill report later.

mikeinstlouis 11-26-2007 04:01 PM

I just took my phone into the Sprint store today with the same problem. He said that he received a memo that this was a known problem with the phone and were working on an update. He gave me the site of utstar.com to find the upgrade. ( Not out yet) Whether or not he was just feeding me a line, I doubt cuz the guy is a friend of mine as well. Hopefully this will fix problems when the upgrade comes out. If anyone else has an idea, I would love to know

BOO B) 11-26-2007 04:08 PM

Boy this sounds like the same issue from back when I had my ppc-6700. If I remember correctly it was a storage card issue. Has anbody tried pulling their storage card out and running without it to see if it still does it? I am debating between getting the Touch or Moto Q9c, this could be a deciding factor for me. Could somebody who is having this issue try pulling out their storage card and running without it or pull it and put it back in to see if that corrects it? BOO

Killabee44 11-26-2007 05:37 PM

I have only had my Touch not wake up once, but I'm sure it will happen again...

If the problem is related to the storage card, that would explain why many people are having problems with the storage card and not being able to see their data.

Hopefully a fix is in the works.

cyburke 11-27-2007 01:30 AM

just posting here to share that i've had to do the soft reset to get my phone back from a blank screen about 3 times since ownership began.

got my phone on 11/2 i believe...

Insoc 11-27-2007 01:03 PM

Phone was manufactured 8 Nov 07, and it has had the sleep problem once so far, nothing loaded software wise, bone stock out of the box, 70% battery and it was one day old when it locked up. I DO have a 4gig MSD card in it, that seems to work.

Our of curiosity, what did you have the sd card in there for if you haven't loaded anything?

Insoc 11-27-2007 04:17 PM

Future growth.

dew.man 11-27-2007 04:30 PM

Do you have any email accounts set up?

Insoc 11-27-2007 04:51 PM

No. BT was off as well. With the exception of the 4gig MSD card, the phone was as out of the box as it can get. I have yet to load anything on it as I am still getting used to it. It has not locked up a second time yet. I am happy to answer any more questions too. :D

Periodicly my Touch does not wake up (turn on) for calls and text messages so I miss them.

FYI: On my phone, its not waking up for the alarms as well. Battery life was fine.

user1 11-27-2007 09:43 PM

I Have the exact problem..only it got worse when it wouldnt wake up at all .the led still flashed but the screen wouldnt turn on and didnt notify me of calls, texts, etc. I just got it replaced. Anyhow i loaded:

opera mini
live search update
sprint tv up date
audio manager
and edited the some of the cubes to open opera mini, audio manager, and you tube

warder 11-28-2007 02:05 AM

Same problem... just missed 1 call and 2 txts... what is going on?

badboy8813 11-28-2007 02:35 AM

i had this problem today and it was because i installed Slide2Unlock..uninstalled and working fine now

Volholler 11-28-2007 09:32 AM

So I went to Sprint yesterday - spent two hours there. The regional manager happened to be in the store that day. I broght in my brand new - no new apps - out of the box Touch in for the same reasons indicated here. Phone goes to sleep and I miss calls, TM, emails, alarms, you name it. My phone is 3 days old with full battery.

As ususal, nobody knew anything about this recurring problem, including the Tech guy. I told him that it was systemic and that some people are getting phones that work and some that don't. I asked them to switch my 3 day old phone that I bought from Sprint.com. The Reg. Mgr. had just gotten off a conference call re: this exact issue. He was told specifically that there will be an update for this phone in the first qtr of '08 and we was NOT TO DO ANY EXCHANGES FOR THIS PHONE WHEN THE DIAGNOSIS INVOLVES THE PHONE NOT WAKING UP FROM STAND BY MODE!!! I asked him what he would do if it was "something else". He said he would do the exchange then. He even went so far as to say that had he not been on the call just an hour prior, he would have done the exchange no problem. He said to take it up with Sprint.com. I did and they're sending out a Brand New phone today. When I got home last night there was one of those add mailers in my mailbox with a huge two page spread promoting the Touch from HTC. Bottomline, Sprint is knowingly promoting a phone that's clearly not ready for prime time. C'est la vie.

oyzerskiy 11-28-2007 11:34 AM

I am new here, but I have also had these problems as described above. The other day I went to the Sprint store and of the clerks has also been having the problem. He said that some of the phones were just defective and as soon as he replaced his, everything has been fine. So he replaced mine as well, and I haven't had any problems since. No freeze-ups, lock-ups, and my phone wakes up for all texts/calls! You are right about the software update. The software will enable rev A for EVDO and GPS I believe as well as fix some of these bugs that a lot of people have been having. If you have had your phone for less than 30 days, sprint will replace your phone. Just make sure you tell them that it freezes up. Hope this info helps!

cloukis 11-28-2007 12:05 PM

I was having all the same problems that most everyone else has been having with the "not waking from sleep mode for calls or anything else". I've disabled the HTC Home application from my today screen and haven't had to soft reset since. I tried disabling one application at a time, and found that nothing worked until I disabled HTC Home.

I really like the application, but if that's what it takes then oh well. Hopefully they'll have an update that fixes this so I can use it again one day. Hope this helps.

fuuup 11-28-2007 02:31 PM

This problem is NOT due to 3rd party applications. My phone is 100% stock and it has the same problem. I've already missed 2 alarms.

What a steamer this one is.

wheelsun 11-28-2007 02:49 PM

they havent fixed this problem since the Mogul huh..
