Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

Oh my God... to everyone struggling with your half-broken "just go for it" phone's (and attitude), I suggest reading MUCH more before you choose to take on something like this next time. Would you be so rash if it was your car?

Well Im sorry that you have to learn somehow and the best way is to try stuff. Read all you want its not always going to help or be the same as actually doing the stuff.

yes, and actually i am that "rash" that is how progress is made. if something breaks, guess what... i learn from it and fix it. whats wrong with asking for advice when needed? i had a problem where after a flash my phone wouldn't have any contacts displayed, then one day it just magically started working.

and as for the car analogy, how do you think car performance is developed in the first place?

with that, you just need to call *228 and hit option 1 to get it back on the verizon network (assuming that is the service you have). i do this after every flash

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

no problem, i just know that through many hacks with my old razr i would have to do that, and if that didnt work, i would call verizon from a landline (ie: house) phone and talk with them about getting it setup and it works everytime after that

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

The call in for verizon does not work all the time. You have to call a level 2 tech head at vzw sometimes to get reauthorized after a hard reset.

If it aint broke... break it. then try to fix it. just be careful to read before you break it. People here dont mind helping but they hate laziness where you could find the answer yourself really easy by reading some. We all had to do same at some point. Realize that you may be without a phone for few days before you try this at home...

Relax if you do break it. As long as you are nice and can adequately explain your problems there are lots of great folks here that will try to help you fix it again.

Thanks!
Scott -

I am brand new to PPC geeks, and after reading through the XV6900 posts, it seems like you're the man to talk to. I am now eligible for my Verizon upgrade, and I am seriously thinking about grabbing one of the XV6900's while they still hav them - your updates would seem to make the purchase a no-brainer - I have been to your site, and I would just like to verify which is the correct link to your most current update package - I would really appreciate any other advice/warnings you may have, and should everything work out, would be more than happy to donate to the cause -

Thanks,
Jack

Re: Verizon - Official WM 6.1 Update

First off this is my first post. I have been stalking the PPCGeeks forums for months like an ex-boyfriend.

Secondly. I have a 6 month old VX6900. Bone stock for the most part. I followed the simple instructions on this thread.

1) backed info up
2) flashed new 'leaked' rom and let customizations roll
3) after reboot I called verizon and told them I had alot of junk on my phone and did a hard reset. Was told it would always have to be authorized on this model after hard resets (not sure if its true) but was a 60 second painless phone call (no lvl 2).
4) installed Vahalla and did the chages required.

(reboots as needed)

And I am proud to say I love it. Faster, better signal, GPS works great. Thank you to all who have posted files, information, support comments etc. I reccomend this to anyone with a VX6900. especially if its stock. well worth it.

If it's not too much trouble, could you possibly pass on the best place to a) download the correct rom, and b) get a step by step guide to applying the patch - I'm getting the phone this week from Verizon and want to get this thing happening - thanks!
