I have not put virser_gps.dll on the phone, but I dont think it will make a difference.

Please advise.

Thanks

3. Let windows install your new hardware. There will be two dialogs that come up. The first one should install after you click next.
The next will require a file called qcmdmxp.sys and says it can't be found. As luck has it, your computer already has this file, and it's located here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.

Simply tell the wizard to look there, and it will show the file, click on it, and the installation will finish.
Just a note, this is only true if you've installed the HTC Wireless Modem Driver. Took me a while to figure that one out.

Re: LEAKED - Official Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07

I took the plunge...

Two Questions:

1) When I did the *22803 I got a busy signal or simular? I tried this before installing the new ROM to make sure it worked and it did, I got the voice prompt for the two options, any ideas? ( I gratfully followed the "if you prgramming fails..." instruction and got it up and running, so I'm just curious)

UPDATE: Later on it worked... Maybe it was actually busy? (of offline or something...) - option 2 (roaming update?) gave the message "We're sorry, your phone is not eligable for an over the air update"

2) When you say "Test GPS", what did you do? I downloaded Telus Navigator (which I think I'm going to pay for - should have read more carefully) and tried T-GPS. Navigator doesn't locate my position and T-GPS sees 0 Satilites (with GPS API?). Am I missing something.

UPDATE2: I had checked all the option under GPSOne as a post here had suggested. I went back an unchecked all but the 2 that GFR suggested and it's up and running. Oddly, T-GPS and Tomtom 6 both find the GPS (external Com 4) but Telus Nav does (but who cares...), even without running Astro. Or does Astro just ahve to be installed?

UPDATE
2UPDATE: I've played with this - having the other GPSOne options checked or unchecked doesn't have anything to do with it. I think T-GPS doesn't shown the number of sats until there was a lock - and I didn't have a lock yet. It was just impatience. I can get a lock upstairs but not downstairs in my place, and the facility I work at is like a bunker - I'm lucky I get cell reception.

Thanks for all the awesome info everyone!

I know these are total newbie question - sorry.

Thanks,
David

Did you happen to install the public beta of Opera Mobile 9.5.1? If so, it has a nasty little bug that disables all notifications.

I do have that opera beta installed. But all other notifications are working fine except for voicemail. I removed opera just to test and still have the same issue. On the weekend I am going to try loading the ROM again to see if theer was an issue with the install.

Allowed = checked

After flashing the new rom, everything is blank. After entering this data, and enabling smartmode in HKLM/Software/HTC/SUPLGPS, i get a solid 5-6 locks in my basement. These results are on the Telus leaked radio, rom and PPST

However, on the 3.42 radio, i was getting 6-8.
Is anyone can give me the appropriate steps in orders to acces the QPST? an new to this.. and i dont know how to acess it. but i need to have these change in order to gets my gps working right.... I already did the registering modification and add the dll. but that last part i need help with...

Check out the very first post in this thread - there's step by step instructions to use QPST for the very first time that even I could follow, so you shouldn't have a problem.

Just make sure that you've installed the HTC Wireless Modem Driver before you try to connect the phone in diagnostic mode (and I'd suggest dialing ##DIAG before you connect the phone, not after)

Over at Hofo it's been mentioned that Telus has announced the official upgrade. They link to HTC's website, but it's not actually there yet. Once it is, we'll have to take a look!

Very interesting! I have been checking every day at HTC's site to see if there have been updates. Knowing how this has gone in the past, one wonders whether this is actually going to happen or whether Telus' announcement will disappear. <g>

I also wonder whether it will be the same rom as the one that accidentally made it to HTC's site.
