Ghetto: What does the virser_gps.dll file do?
After trying the steps above a few times. The only time I've gotten it to work was when I forgot to edit the registry.

Funnily enough during the day i get 7-9 sat's locked in seconds. But when I tried last night, nothing.

No, they didn't. I tryed both Ghetto's settings and those, I think the IP that ghetto gave will only work if your a telus subscriber.. so Igave the titan one a try and it works, but poorly.

I have also tryed the new sprint ROM Radio.. same thing.

I am on bell so I flashed to this radio, then flashed NSFANS rom.

Both seem to be noticeably worse than 37.15 I was using prior. And AGPS seems very broken. Before I could lock about 4 blocks in any direction from my house without getting a satelite lock.. then when gps kicked in it would have me in 5 feet...

I wouldnt mind tyring a full telus install including the customizations if I knew i could run the bell ppst and change them all back to what they should be or can I use QPST to do that? I am still curious if there is a change to the PRL and PRI in this update too as that seems to affect(at least for the sprint guys) their gps capabilities. Anyone care to help me out with that?

i finally got it to work..right now im inside with only one lock when i was on my balcony the most i got was 5

ok, got testing in my condo where i'm used to, here's the diff with the dll for me...

without the dll i got a slow but accurate lock, with a constant 7 to 8 sats

with the dll i get my first sat right away with low accuracy and a slow climb, in about the same time without dll i reach 8 with dips to bout 4 sats. nice thing the sats keep climbing i finally max out at 11 with dips still as low as 4 and 5

so it seems i know have a less constant sig but i've never spiked to 11 on this phone, with a little more tweaking who knows maybe a constant 10-11

Just wondering if the link i posted is the newest ver of the dll, it was the second one i tried the first i couldn't get above 4 sats. don't know where i got it it was in a folder with all the crap i've collected over the last week rofl

I found something similar - the lock was very quick in Garmin and more satellites than usual (like 11 or so) and then it went back to normal. For me, it seems to be slight improvement. All in all, the built in GPS seems to be functioning now as well, if not better than my external Garmin GPS 10 bluetooth receiver in Garmin Mobile XT. Good work, Ghetto!

Now all I have to do is figure out how to reprogram this puppy with my info :S

This has worked for me Now GPS works without reset or reboot. It worked with google maps and Garmin

QPST GPSOne Settings:

1. Connect your Vogue to your computer with the usb cable. This is also an excellent time to back up anything, just in case.

2. We need to put the phone in diagnostic mode. This is done by running dmrouter.exe, similar to epst.exe by dialing ##DIAG Send or ##DIAG#

3. Let windows install your new hardware. There will be two dialogs that come up. The first one should install after you click next. The next will require a file called qcmdmxp.sys and says it can't be found. As luck has it, your computer already has this file, and it's located here:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.
Simply tell the wizard to look there, and it will show the file, click on it, and the installation will finish.

4. Install QPST if you haven't already.

5. Run the Service Programming program under the QPST start menu.

6. Double click on the little globe at the bottom right of your screen.

7. Click on Add New Port, and add COM4 - USB/QC DIAGNOSTIC. (might be another COM for some people)

8. Close the QPST Configuration window, and go back to the QPST Service Programming window.

9. Click on your phone, which should now be there, and then click OK.

10. Click on Read From Phone and then enter your SPC and click OK.

11. Goto the gpsOne tab (you'll have to scroll to the right) and enter these details:

 
Allowed = checked
Assistanc-Spherical = checked
PDE IP Address = 216.198.139.92
PDE Port Number = 8889
PDE Transport = IP
Position Calculation = PDE

12. SOFT RESET

13. Test GPS - I got 8 satellites in 1s.

you can go to device manager in control panel to find out the port number.

I'm just wondering if this upgrade is worth doing, it takes me less than 30s to get a good lock 8-10 sat and my phone is running fast. What would I really be gaining from flashing?
