Re: OFFICIAL Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07
Has anyone else noticed that the ringing volume is now much quieter than before, I've confirmed this on a friends phone as well after the upgrade. Even when the ringing volume is at 100% it sounds closer to the same ring tone played in media player with the volume set to 70%.
Does anyone know how to increase the ringer? I've tried replacing the audioparm.csv file (one writen for wm6.1) and it doesn't seem to help. |

I actually intend to try one of the other roms now provided that I am confident that going back to the Telus rom (in case of warranty repair) is an option.

Re: OFFICIAL Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07
It appears that you no longer need to connect the phone to QPST in order to enable GPS. Just for the heck of it I downloaded the new officially posted updated and installed it. I then ran over the air programming by dialing *22803. After the phone rebooted I went outside and turned GPS on and opened up Google Maps. The phone found my position in a couple of seconds. The lock did seem to take longer then it did before but only by a few seconds. After my success I had a friend of mine who had installed the leaked update run over the air programming on his Touch. He got the same results as I did when we tested his GPS. Just to confirm that the setting was indeed enabled I connected my phone to QPST and checked the gpsOne tab. The "Allowed" check box was checked off.
So it looks like GPS will now work on the Telus Touch with the new 6.1 update and after running over the air programming without any hacks. If more people could confirm this that would be awesome. |

Well for question one it would depend on what is wrong with your phone and how long you have had it. For the second question I would say that it is a good idea to flash your phone back to the official rom before you send it back to Telus.

Re: OFFICIAL Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07
Curious- I'm in Oakville (EVDO Rev. A territory) but my data via IE/Opera even live messenger seems to be a lot slower than before I upgraded to the leaked Telus ROM. When I check the icon at the top it does say EV, but when i press it, it tells me I'm stuck in CDMA 1X.
Will flashing to the new ROM fix this, or are other people having these problems? Are there settings in QPST I can mod to fix this? |

Re: OFFICIAL Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07
Thanks everybody, I'm doing this update now but cannot find a GPS signal in Google Maps.
On page 1, tobeychris wrote under QPST GPSOne Settings: : 3. Let windows install your new hardware. There will be two dialogs that come up. The first one should install after you click next. The next will require a file called qcmdmxp.sys and says it can't be found. As luck has it, your computer already has this file, and it's located here: C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\. Simply tell the wizard to look there, and it will show the file, click on it, and the installation will finish. I tried to do this but got an error on the last one, "Generic Serial". I'm using Vista. It says to insert the disc that came with the hardware, so I choose "I don't have the disc. Show me other options." I think "Browse my computer for driver software" and point to the above path that tobeychris listed, but it comes back with "Could not find driver software". It will give me the problem detail, which is the follwing: Description: Windows detected a new device attached to your computer, but could not find the driver software it needs to make the device usable. Each device manufacturer typically includes driver software of a CD that comes with the device, or as a download from its website. The hardware ID of your device is USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0B03&REV_0000&MI_01. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: PnPDriverNotFound Architecture: x86 Hardware Id: USB\VID_0BB4&PID_0B03&REV_0000&MI_01 OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Anybody help please? |

Re: OFFICIAL Telus 6.1 ROM w/GPS and Rev. A - R 3.41.00, D 3.07
I was wondering how do I do step 4 and where do I find the virser_gps.dll? Thanks.
"
6. Copied virser_gps.dll into \Windows and reset" Finally it works, it seems "Location" has to be on instead of "911 Emergency" for the GPS to pick-up in google-maps. Last edited by Krauser; 08-10-2008 at 03:05 PM. |
