Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Does the PRL affect gps performance? My PRI is correct which is the 2.03 but my PRL is 60610 whereas most people are saying they have 60612.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Please help me. I have the Bell version of this phone and I did run the ppst.exe for sprint in my windows folder. I know it was stupid after reading through this whole thread. I flashed back from OMJ's Bell to the stock Bell rom and the internet will not work. The phone seems to freeze all the time. The PRL version is 31398 and the PRI version 2.03_003. How do I get back to the old PRI and PRL? How do I fix this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

I don’t know what this is worth but I ran the PPST cab from the sprint 3.49 rom (bell subscriber) before reading through all the posts (what’s the worst that could happen?)
I didn’t notice much improvement in the GPS performance, but I didn’t notice any ill effects either.
I should mention that I have flashed my phone in the neighbourhood of 150 times in the last three weeks though, so a subsequent flash may have fixed it, if there was a problem.

Question How to change the PRI ? ?

OK - three day weekend is apon me ! Thanks to fuel prices my posterior is staying home.

I have 3 Sprint Touch's in the family. I have been flashing the living daylights out of mine. I'm trying to get the GPS to be "Reliable". Along with the rest I too have been bashing my head againt the wall and now I starting to hear the squishy sounds. Lemmie give a run down of where I am at and what I have done....

Flashed the Unlocker about 3 weeks ago shortly after the Alltel was released. Used dharvey's wonderfull step by step to get my feet wet.

Flashed..Unlocker 2.31 coke
Flashed the Alltel Rom 3.04.671.2 Radio (did not run the customizations)
Flashed JD's Custom ROM (didnt care for the Vista look)

Discovered PPCKitchen! Bless those that created it!
Flashed using OS builder the 1st generation GPS ROM

GPS worked but was spotty. But used it for a week or so. Heard of the Sprint Leaked Rom release

Flashed the Sprint Leaked ROM & let the Customizations run

Flashed using OS Builder Vogue GPS 3.02 - Revision 1

Now I had to do it a couple of times forgot to check the HTC Home the 1st run.. Opps. 2nd run did something and the task bar at the top of the screen was missing . 3rd times the charm. Got the apps I wanted. Now the GPS sometimes starts up in a flash 6+ sats in under 20 seconds. Other times nada after 5+ min of waiting. Other times you can see the AGPS working and it places my poistion where the nearest cell tower is. Then the next try nothing and Google Maps times out.

Now I tried PPST.EXE and I get "backup EFS failed." and it reboots the device.

Here are the particulars of my phone...

Radio 3.37.15 Sprint Leaked
ROM - Vogue GPS 3.02 Kitchen (latest version)
PRL 60612
PRI 1.33_003

After the last flash when I try the ##775# I get a screen asking for a login....before I had the phone's info screen. Like to figure that out soon.

But I think my issue lies in the PRI being 1.33 - looks like those with all the luck on somewhat dependable GPS have PRI 2.03.

Reading thru this whole thread again I couldnt see how to get that to change. One train of thought was by letting the customizations on the Sprint leaked rom to run it would update it. I saw the PPST run at that time - took a while too...thought I bricked it for a sec.

So how do I fix this? Sorry for the long winded nature of this post.

How do I change the PRI ? and do you guys think that is the issue?

i cant say that i have any idea how to fix this...try emailing bell from a new/trash email account and asking? try reflashing your radio/rom/spl/anything..?

good luck.

so have you run the cab, THEN run the exe? if you just say copy and paste the exe from one rom to your storage card to another rom after flashing...thats not gonna cut it. the ppst cab installs a number of files..did you for sure do both? one right after the other?

Yes Sir! I ran the Leaked Sprint Radio ROM....Ran the customizations. Installed the Kitchen rom. Then I tried the PPST file.

What I will do today is Flash over the Leaked Sprint Radio rom - Run the customizations. When it's fininshed I will run PPST.exe and see what happens.

Last time I flashed the Sprint radio and let the customizations run..I saw the PPST run....took a while too...but it ran. But my PRI still is 1.33

That is my project for today. Have to get get Brunch with the family.....any words of wisdom would be apreciated!

This is the best Forum for PPC users hands down!

When you let the customizations run its starts to run PPST but a dialog window comes up requiring you to select yes or no. Unfortunately this window disappears to the background in a split second with no way to get it back to the front. After a while without input (because you can't get to the dialog window) the customizations continue without actually upgrading your PRL..

Just my experience.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Was at the Bob Evans eating breakfast and found the ppst cab and downloaded it and ran it.

It ran! My PRL is now 60612 and the PRL is 2.03_003 !

Then I noticed the Black upside down triangle up on the task bar. Isn't that "Roaming" ?

We went to the store, once I left the Restarunt the black triange left. I played with GPSToday - still the same - sometimes got a fix 4 sats. Reset...no sats after 5+ min of waiting.

Still plan on later today REFLASHING the Sprint Leaded Radio, running the Customizations. Running the CAB.....

Stop there before I load a Kitchen ROM and play with GPSToday and Google Maps and see if it's reliable.....then toss on a Kitchen.

Plan on doing that this afternoon once I get back home. This is my holiday weekend project (not counting the Honey-Do list the wife gave me)

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Yep - that did the trick !!!

Flashed the Sprint Leaked ROM
Let the Cutomizations run

Ran the PPST_080407_7500_SPCS_2.03.sa.CAB
It moved the PRI to 2.03_003 ! ! ! !

Ran the PPST.exe file.

So far all day even after the system going in STANDBY on it's own. Or hitting the PWR button on my own. The GPS locks in 10-20 seconds using GPS Start or other apps like Google Maps. I have yet to run into a situation it did not lock on to 5+ sats in over 30seconds.

I will install a Kitchen ROM tomorrow Vogue 3.02. But I think getting the PRI to 2.03_003 is the kicker to the whole deal.

hmm thats strange that it changed the pri before you ran ppst.exe...

but yep thats what we've been saying! run the cab, then immediately after run the exe. but you dont need to run the cab if you let the customizations run...the customizations run the cab for you i think.
