Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
I'm also having the same problem. Running TopazSmoke on US Cellular. GPS went out on me Tuesday morning. Tried flashing back to stock, then reflash. Things were good but then QuickGPS downloaded an update automatically on me and I have the same issue.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
Same problem here in Naples, Fl. on Sprint network. Was using NRG 23081 with 1.03 sprint ROM. Flashed danced to sprint oem with no luck. Tired two other peoples ROM's still with no luck. Flashed to 1.12 radio on stock ROM and everything is fine so far. This is freaking weird!!!!

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
I had the same problem with a Sprint Touch Pro in California. Every time I would acquire a GPS lock it would soft reset. I flashed it to the latest ROM and radio and it seems to work fine with Google Maps and Bing (Windows Live).
new ROM 2.01.651.6 new Radio 1.12.34F http://www.htc.com/us/SupportDownloa...at=2&dl_id=683 How odd that all of our GPS systems went bonkers at the same time. Oh and I did run QuickGPS prior to running Google Maps. |

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
On my Diamond when I would try to run QuickGPS, most of the time it would download but then flash me a message that my location needed to be on for it to load it. But when I checked in the location settings, location was indeed turned on. I'm in the process of flashing back to shipped.

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
Okay, here is what I did to fix my problem so far:
Did a Radio Flash to Latest Verizon ROM. Worked okay till I updated QuickGPS, then I got locks to wrong location, that showed me moving faster and faster as the day went on, even tho I was stationary... (I assume a lock on a nonsense location is what causes reset.) Did a full restore from a week old backup in a room that has no cell service... (Do this in a no cell area so QuickGPS can't autoupdate.) After the restore, I disabled all the QuickGPS autoupdate stuff. When back in a cell and GPS friendly area outside... It takes longer to get a lock, but GPS is working and continues to work correctly now... I THINK if you just replace the data file from QuickGPS with one a week or more older AFTER turning off autoupdate, and then soft-reset, your GPS systems should all work again, if slower... (Be sure to hit Thanks if this helps you! ![]() Who knows what the data file is called and where it is? (Its not a DLL file, those are psudo-executables...) |

Re: Does GPS ever just 'go bad'?
After switching radios, roms, and gps apps all yesterday and today. im confident quickgps was the culprit. i havent touched it since flashing my original rom, and gps has been fine since noon.
