OK guys. I have followed this thread for a bit but I just want to make sure I have the latest info since I havent read the whole 250 pages of it. The keyboard on my TP1 just died. I've had it since Oct 08 when the phone came out. Using the on screen keyboard as my only input method really sucks.

Anyhow, which method has the highest probability of getting a TP2? From what I read calling Assurion is not the way to do this.

I had the phone replaced once already for a DOA earpiece. But I handled that through best buy the same day I got it. We didn't test it until it was already activated. Thus, I needed a swap in the Sprint system.

Your advice is greatly appreciated. This is great. Thanks guys!

you're on your 1st phone? you might get lucky with the right rep, but most of these exchanges are happening with people who have had multiple replacements. good luck soldier.

If you've only had one replacement, it sounds unlikely that you will get a free upgrade with advanced tech support.
if you have insurance, start the claim process, go as far as the page that tells you what replacement you are getting and if it says HTC 7380 jump on it, that's the TP2.
If it's HTC 6850 (TP) it will be a refurb and I'd be unsre about the reliability of a re-furb, seems like most of them have been through many customers hands and are all a bit weary now.

If it is a refutb TP or something else inferior, save your $100 deductable and go back to plan A, go into the store to see what you can get.

Thank you so much for the advice! I just went online to make a claim and they gave the the option of the 7380! So i should be expecting that in a couple days.

The best part is, I bought the TP1 for $20 used! I love Asurion...

call sprint!!! there is only 1 dept other than advance tech and they are authorized to replace phones just so long as you havent had more than 2 replacements in a year...they were going to get me a tp2 but ive had way too many exchanges which then makes it up to the stores discression
