If you read my comment, you'd see who I was addressing. If you've had 5 touch pro's, by all means, you're the type who should be getting the TP2 as a free replacement. Also, the phones potentials are amazing, but they just keep having weird inherent flaws (the slider on my mogul popped out and I went through a one month battle proving to sprint that it was impossible that I had done it without literally yanking the phone apart, but besides that the mogul was solid. The TP had great potential but my chrome chipped a hole in the first one, keyboard failed on second, chrome chipped again on third but I had to asurion that one because it cracked from a drop on the way there -_-, and this fourth one is back onto keyboard issues for the second time). I'm hoping if I ever get another phone I just want it to have the exact same features and everything, but just to work.

Again though man, that was completely my fault and sorry about that.

I called the store today, 2 days after I went. They said to try tomorrow cuz my TP2 hasn't come yet :(

Stupid TP breaking on me. I've been without being able to use it right for days now...

chronster - you are preaching to (mostly) the wrong crowd. I am with you and I attempted the same thing somewhere in the first few pages. Apparently, there is a name for us, we are called "moral police". And I always thought that I was just an honest person who doesn't like to steal and lie my way into anything. Reading some comments and questions here like "how can I make my TP worse to exchange it", "what registry settings can I edit to stop my kb from working", "how did you exchange it and what did you say", and people calling Sprint employees all kinds of names, makes me think that we are a dying breed. I have seen the same thing happen when TP originally came out and everyone who jumped on it from Mogul (that apparently became "crap" at that point as well) were yelling that TP is the best phone they ever had. Now it is dejavu all over with TP2. And trust me, the same people will try to pull the same thing when Leo (or whatever it will be called) will come out.

I love this forum and I know that there are a lot of good and honest people here. But threads like these tend to bring out the worst. So again, to everyone who really had issues with their TPs - best of luck getting a replacement but keep in mind that this is the same company making it and the same company selling it.

When I first clicked the thread, I expected those people who were constantly having issues to be reporting that Sprint is taking care of them. Like Sprint's customer service is getting better or something. Very quickly I saw that people without issues were jumping on this as well.

i just so happened to be there when an regional director was at the store i guess monitoring the store . so anyway, my tp had crapped out, so i was offered a tp2, but there was no stock in warehouse so i just got another tp1, (this was Saturday) . Before i went to go pick up my phone Monday, i called sprint support and told them i was sick of the tp and wanted another model, they simply told me about the new policy, and told me to basically refuse the phone. So then i show up Monday (when the regional director was there) to get my phone, i am speaking with some ignorant sales "consultant", she told me sometimes that customer support are ignorant and don't know what there talking about. i found this so amusing, it wasn't but 5 minutes later that the regional director came to where i was at and told me my exact problem without knowing much. he was spot on. He basically said that there is a list of phones (snap, bb tour, treo pro, tp2, maybe a few more) that were being replaced for free. i understood this as basically being a recall, because he said that "htc acknowledged their mistake, and is paying sprint for every replacement touch pro phone that it replaces" . He also said this policy officially took effect this passed Sunday. Just thought you would would like to know. This is only if you go in and are having unfix-able problems with your touch pro.


does anyone know if they have gotten any in stock in their warehouse yet?

as far as i know, replacement touch pro 2's are in a different inventory than the inventory they have for customer that are purchasing the phone. am i wrong?

Shouldn't Sprint’s due diligence on each case of the equipment in accordance with their policies quell this “run” on their limited inventories of this device? Really, they’ve created this monster by both admitting the chronic issues the TP1, and then actually doing these replacements with the TP2. I am sure they are aware there will be some abuse, and should have planned for it. It’s quite obvious they should not have gone this route so soon after releasing this device. If people want to post this abuse perhaps the moderators can deal with them, but please chronster, give it a rest, we get it. By the way when I finally become a VIP can I say i poop a lot too?:evil4:

Nope, you're correct. That's why you can buy NIBs, but not get refurbished phones.

yeah I mean, if they are reimbursing Sprint for these replacements, it's worth a shot, but be prepared for a more diligent check of the device to confirm it's defects.

Brought mine in to get keyboard fixed. They offered me 4 different phones but no tp2. I had them order me another tp1 since I dont want a blackberry or a palm treo. The keyboards are too small. Hopefully my replacement will last longer than a month like this refurb...

I received this a few hours ago from a friend of mine who is usually able to help me out with getting my issues resolved. He works at Sprint HQ at the Executive Level. I am just copying the most pertinent part of the email:

Unfortunately I don't have the power to move you into a TP2. Since the phone came out, we've had quite a few people try to "game" us to get into that device, and it is a very costly device to Sprint due to it having a GSM chipset in it as well.

It didn't work for me - they literally replaced the entire top of my TP to fix it.

And yes, mines was legitimately f'd up, it kept going from landscape to portrait while closed, and I couldn't use it at all while the keyboard was closed, anytime I wanted to use it I had to slide it open.

So no upgrade for me. They just "fixed" it. I'm sure it will be broken by the end of the day though, that's about how long TPs last.

Odd. The guy scanned in my ESN bar code, took my phone number down and said I had to wait cuz they were back-ordered. He mentioned that four other customers were waiting for theirs too.

Mine has the EXACT same problem. If I push anywhere on the screen it rotates from the pressure. Even more annoying is it turns the phone on if it's off, so carrying it my pocket runs the battery down fast. My keyboard also double/triple types some letters when used. I was waiting for someone to report in this thread that there were TP2's in the warehouse before I took it in. I hope they don't fix my phone.. I'd really like a new TP since I DO have multiple issues with my phone.

For those going to ASCs, go to one that only offers REPLACEMENTS (BY MAIL). Do a search on sprints website for repair centers and it will come up (like my store):

Make an appointment

Stores like these don't have repair centers but are able to replace your phone from anything on the WEL list.

it helps if you are polite and not start thrusting memo's in peoples faces. if a asc orders one its usually there within 2 buisness days. as they are pulling from a dift inventory.

if you want to get ****y, then maybe you should switch to verizon
