Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

Speed in my sig is on the high side of average. In my house I get a bit less bc I drop to 2 or 3 bars. Speed test was taken in my work parking lot at 4 bars.

Man, I just dont understand that, im still getting around 600-800 kbps.
Is that directly from your phone or is that tethering to a laptop?
Iv seen other guys on sprint, Alltel and Verizion and the internet speeds all seem about the same, its hard to imagine it being 3 or 4 times faster??

That speed is direct off the phone, no tether, no special speed hacks. I get sustained transfers like that from stock, from a custom rom, anything. And multiple speed tests usually stick it in that same ballpark, such as www.dslreports.com/m

No idea why I get such good speeds, but it is *definitely* location dependent. If I do it from home, where I have 2 to 3 bars it's less. Still around 1.8Mbit.

The other thing that made the biggest difference to me (ON SPRINT) was this little check box:
Settings-Connections(tab)-Connections-ManageExisting-Edit(button)
-Next-Next-AdvancedThen uncheck IPheader compression.

Thats the other biggest thing that almost tripled my speeds in 1-2 service-bar-areas and got me above the 700kbps during the daytime.

Note/thoughts: I'm in NewEngland and, as we know with how the different radios work better or worsein different parts of the country, I think some of our networks may have different options enabled in different places as well as different towers with different upgrades ie. city vs suburban. Just a guess. Please don't quote me on that, hehe.
All I do know is that this phone is wicked fast and these help me actually proove it.
If This helps... Don't forget to hit the Thanks button -->
I hit the thanks button because this took me from 123 (yeah 123) to 768 and sometimes over 900 using mobilespeedtest. I using Mighty Rom 5 on a touch pro with Sprint.

Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

Stock Alltel TP ROM, all tests at 1 MB on www.dslreports.com/mspeed , with Rev. A. Seems slower than it should be, I blame VZW and this merger. Can't have the better equipment actually work better ;D

1st test: 951 kb/sec .219s lat.
2nd test: 1040 kb/sec .192s lat.
3rd test: Too fast for result
4th test: 1009 kb/sec .313s lat.
5th test: 996 kb/sec /208s lat.

I'll update should I decide to try this program.

www.mobilespeedtest.com has me at a consistant 7.5 meg or so, stock ROM, 4 tests. I'd call BS on that site.

I tried making this change and after the change I'm being asked for a network log on. This is the first time I've been asked for this info. Any ideas?

Thanks

either you accidentally entered something into username password or this is a one time popup that if you leave blank and hit OK, you should be fine.
