Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

Does anybody no of a browser that runs java applets native. I want to go up to DSLReports.com, and run their tweak test. That test will give you suggestions for the device that it reads (RWIN etc.).

I have used the test with great reliability, and tweaking on my PC's.

The problem is it need a browser that will run JAVA applets. The browser needs to run native on the phone, and not use a external server to access web pages (like Opera Mobile).

If there is a browser out thier that will allow JAVA applets to run resident on the phone, we could run the test, and really get an in depth analysis of what settings to tweak.

Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

When I run "mobile" speed tests I get crazy speeds like 2-3Mbps. Teathered to my pc I'm lucky to get between 500-800Kbps. What's up with that? Why are "mobile" speeds tests showing higher speeds then what the pc is showing?

Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

You need to tweak the PC's settings(Windows) for the network you are on. the program Dr. TCP on DSL Reports enables you to do this.

Tether the phone, Open your PC's browser, and go to DSL Reports .com. Run the tweak test on your PC.(Under Tools) See what settings it suggests for the PC.

Here are some good discussions on tweaking

http://www.evdoforums.com/thread504-150.html

And I recommend speedtest.net, when you're tethering, because it automatically directs you to the closest server and you can see where your HAaddress is. Info here:

Enjoy the brainfood.

Run the software that i provided (tcptune). Use the following settings for Cellular line 1, and Cellular line 2:

Rwin: 98300
Windows Scaling on
TTL 128
MTU Discovery on
Selective Acks on
Time Stamps off

Reboot.

Peep the speed blast.

Forgot to mention that I'm on Sprint. Not sure if this works on other carriers but it would not hurt to try.

just did this on STAR Rom v1.5 6.5 and all the setting you have listed are already there

Re: Evdo Speed Tweaks For Touch Pro

Service and speed around here sucks! I've been stuck at the 140-300k range for the last 2 months with all the "updates" and the switch to Verizon (I'm on Alltel). I did talk to tech support and they are updating to REV A in my area. It just might take up to 5 months before it's complete. So I believe all these tweaks will do nothing for me at this time. Guess I'm stuck with the crappy speeds for a while. Fun fun.
