Re: All the tweaks with stock ROM
So along the lines of what was discussed below, I am considering flashing for the first time...right now I have the stock ROM with TF3D turned off, most of the tweaks installed, and a buttload of apps, etc...I have most although not all of them on my card, and have the phone backed up fully via SPB Backup on the flash card...if I were to flash to something like Mighty Mike's ROM to speed up the phone, would I be able to restore from SPB and end up with most of the programs intact and in place? The reason I ask, as I said, is that unfortunately all my cabs are not 100% in one place (other than the SPB Backup file which obviously has everything), and some of the apps required reg tweaks to function or function optimally...I believe there is an option to restore with or without ROM upgrade, so if I were to flash and then restore the system data from backup, does anybody know what the likely outcome would be? Thx for any advice for a newbie flasher...

Re: All the tweaks with stock ROM
Add another stock user thinking of flashing. I used to flash my ppc6700 all the time so Im pretty familiar with doing it but I do have a couple questions.
I tried the rhodium cab that installs over the sprint stock rom and found some issues with it that I didnt like so I went back to stock sprint. Is there a TF3D2 rom that is fully working? The issues with the cab I installed were:
Is there a TF3D2 rom that doesnt have these issues? Also, can I use my current slider icons and theme on a TF3D2 rom since I couldnt find many themes for TF3D2? If not I may go to the mighty rom but is there a huge advantage over my tweaked stock sprint rom? I know its alot of questions but I hate resetting my phone and having to reinstall all my software. It takes me literally hours to get everything back after a hard reset. Thanks guys, and yes Ill hit the button for those who help ![]() |

Re: All the tweaks with stock ROM
I wouldn't try restoring programs with SPB Backup, I know it has the capability, but you are asking for issues to be created. You are best off with a fresh install of the programs after the flash. As far as the reg edits and such, you may want to look into the SDConfig thread in the TP Upgrades forum, and learn a little about User Customization, and automating the process of restoring things after a flash! Good Luck
Wingzfan- Thes problems you state are known issues with the Rhodium port at this point in time, it just isn't perfect. It also didn't help that you installed it over the stock rom. It performs best with 21000+ builds of WinMo. I am currently running Juicy's Rhodium Rom, and the only issue I am experiencing that you listed is the issues with all buttons being linked to the same number on a contacts favorite page. Other than that, which is relatively minor (as you can still click on their picture and bring up their other numbers), that ROM FLIES!

Re: All the tweaks with stock ROM
i'm a newbee and would like to try a custom rom, can some one walk me through the flashing process? is it just downloading the file to your desktop and transferring over to your phone and opening the file? or is there more to it? do i have to hard-reset?

with the rom update. If you try to restore using the SPB rom upgrade it willdepend on the programs you have. So in short it is a hit and miss type situation. I did it and some of my programs did not work with his rom thus making me chose to go back to stock. But that doesnt mean I won't try again. |
