Re: Getting desperate now

When I was using the Sprint Radio (1.11) I was getting, maybe, 12 hours of life with light usage. I found that the Telus (1.04.05V) was the best Radio for my area (Columbus, OH) and with the same usage I'm getting over 24 hours with the same amount of usage.

EDIT: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=56611 - check that thread and see if your city is listed.

I don't believe that BS either. My batteries wouldn't last for over a day with the screen turned off & no use at all (Mighty ROM using 1500 Seidio batts & Telus radio)

I have five batteries for my TP's & a car charger & two desk cradles (one at work & one at home) so I don't really worry about it. I did the same thing with my old Titan's.

There is no way in hell anybody is getting 36 hours of battery life from these things, I don't care what ROM or reg tweaks you've done............

Re: Getting desperate now

my tp is running at least 6 days with no calls and text/inet blocked.

i turn it on once in a while to see if there's any missed calls and how the battery is doing.

you don't have to believe me, but that's how it is

The first TP I got was crap. The battery died about 12 hours after a full charge and I wasnt really using the phone that much, just setting up my voicemail and setting message/email preferences etc..Took it back and got a new TP, has worked great. Battery lasts about 36 hours with moderate usage, 24 or so with heavy.

Does no one ever think of just taking the phone back for a new one?
why would u take the phone back, in the end youll have the same issue.. it would just be a frivilious claim really..

Re: Getting desperate now

its ok to ask! i have 2, the first is my personal cell

the 2nd is my business cell... i'm not currently active in that business, i think next month i'll get it going. But because no one really has it i don't get any calls. I've also had txt and inet blocked on it, so all it gets is radio.

what happened was i called and threatened to cancel several lines because they wouldn't replace my mogul for a few months. So they said we can get you a TP for $200. So i was like ok! Well of course theylied and it came out to $300...

Finally, they replaced my mogul with... a TP! hahaha so that's how i ended up with 2. I really wanted a titan because i had no2chem's rom on it (*****en), seidio 3500 extended battery and rubberized case with holster. So it was an awesome set up. wanted that for my business line. But alas, no can do.

so that's why i'm able to see how long it lasts in literally standby!

my personal cell gets charged twice a day with any "regular" use. A little use once a day

Re: Getting desperate now

gotcha, that how my mogul is.. 2nd buisness line, but i just stared my own biz so its not very active yet.. it ha sthe biggest white spots ever and freezes n the charger... just not sure i want another TP or not... having a mogul is kind of like having a credit card.. theyll neer have a mogul to replace it with, so im getting a NIB TP minimum.. but i can wait till soemthing nice comes out, cash in mogul for NIB TP, sell the TP and take the money towards something snazzy... so yeah i understand why its laying around... i get like 4 days or so out of my mogul for the same reasons

Re: Getting desperate now

For me the biggest change was turning off push email and any auto - email checking. That extended my battery life considerably..making it last almost 4-5 hours longer than normal. I've also heard that changing the settings in phone > menu > options > services > time synchronization can help as well...apparently is makes it so your phone automatically checks the network to sync the time. I doubt it saves much battery...but every little bit counts.

For me...an extra battery is currently unneccesary because I am ALWAYS near a charger...I have them littered around my house, at work...whereever. However, I plan on using my phone much more since I have recently become a facebook/twitter ***** (lol) and I also plan on using it to geocache. I have become big on twittering pictures with my GPS loc. tagged so that people can see what I am doing whenever I want them to...I love it! So...an extra battery seems inevitable.

Talking Re: Getting desperate now

Like everyone else, I have been scouring the forums for anything that will improve battery life. My friend constantly reminds me that's the way it is in the CDMA world. Just idling, no push mail, check 2 gmail accounts automatically every 30 minutes and light usage otherwise, I lose about 10%/hour. And it can discharge much faster if I up my usage in any area.

I've tried different ROM's, different radios, updated my PRL and all of the other things everyone else has done. Currently, I'm running a ROM I cooked in eRice's kitchen and it's giving me the best performance I've had in awhile, but I'm still not certain that I have figured out the best radio/rom/etc. combination for where I live (Denver, CO). If anyone local has some experience to share, throw it out there.

I have a cradle with a spare battery at work and I'm about to get another for home with a couple more batteries too.

I still love my TP. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

Checking the both of them every 30 minutes may be worse for the battery than just keeping push enabled. I'd recommend SEVEN but as far as I know, you will still get hit with international text messages at 20 cents each... On the other side, I averaged about 10 a month, so not a huge charge, really.

With Juicy's ROM and the Telus radio, if my phone sits idle all day, I've had it as high as 91% still... this is 9am-7pm we're talking about. If I use it to text and stuff lightly through the day, it will average 70%... if I use it to browse sites and look stuff up, it's often considerably lower. Calls really kill the battery too.

Same situations, but with SEVEN running... instead of 91% I'd be around 74% through a whole day of sitting idle. The other things like texting would cause the battery to drop about equally, but browsing sites and stuff seemed then to have less of an impact. I still could easily make it a day, often more.

The thing about battery life is that it really depends on how you use your phone. If you really can't make it through the day, carry two batteries and pick up a charger that will charge both at the same time... pop them on the charger overnight and you're good to go.

Re: Getting desperate now

Well, after looking at all the comments, it seems like the 30-40 hour batteries aren't so common afterall.

As far as phone usage goes, I'm a heavy user, so I guess that's why my battery doesn't last all day (four hour conversations are normal for me lol). Anyway, I'm still satisfied with my battery overall, with it lasting about 6-8 hours on a single charge with moderate to heavy usage. I just wanted to see if there was a way I can improve it.
