HTC Touch Pro Keyboard not working

Ok so my HTC Touch Pro is having keyboard issues too. Everything else works perfectly fine though. When I slide the keyboard out, the lights come on, but when I press the buttons it doesn't do a thing.

I cannot return it because I purchased it on eBay. Is there anything at all(besides soft/hard re-sets) that I can do to it to make the keyboard work again?

I am on my 4th now. I do tech support so i am always writing emails. I actually just got mine replaced last Thursday, then today it went out, not even a week old. Hell, I haven't even shipped the old one back yet. All brand new phones. They need to look at some quality control issues.

Okay, kinda weird, but I know I'm having the same problems as all of you, and I think I might have figured out a temporary fix that can work well while you wait to get a replacement. I can get it to work again by opening the keyboard and letting the phone sit until the screen turns off. Then I wake it back up with the power button, and the keyboard works again, albeit with the repeating quirks still happening... Let me know if this works for you...

Easy fix for you guys. Simply press the space bar VERY hard which will re-seat the ribbon cable. The keyboard should work again. Fixed my keyboard this way and others have followed this technique and fixed theirs.

I have gotten this method to work for me, but the keyboard shortly goes out again.

I have noticed that using this "fix" my screen issues are resolved as well. I kinda wish I didn't have insurance, because I would love to tear the phone apart and fix it. Oh well, replacement should be here today or tomorrow.

Yo that started happending on Sunday,I am a heavy texter,True story. This is my second joint,My lights on my letters are dimmer than the #'s on my key board. Any body been throuhgt this,Really need some help before i goes througt the Sprint store.

i am heavy user and am on my 2nd phone. the first was used and now i got a bran new phone charge mine 2 times a day and am a heavy txter. i am from alltel and am scared that my keyboard is going to die again. what can i do to prevent this? please help

yep here 2 this is my 2nd time replacing my phone tp has za badly built keyboard from the inside..

I've had keyboard problems with mine for the past couple months! If the text isn't appearing or it starts repeating like crazy just push hard on the little spot below on the left side of the space bar and the text will enter or it will stop repeating. For how much this phone costs it's pretty crappy quality to have the keyboards in so many phones go bad. A pull out keyboard is meant for texting and with that goes heavy usage. I'm hoping the build quality on the TP2 improves drastically! Oh and my screen has also been all distorted for the past week. You have to kinda guess on what you are pressing. And yesterday it started lagging really bad, taking like 5 mins to send a text and unfreeze. So now I'm going to use Mymobiler to install Sprite on the phone to back up EVERYTHING I can. My replacement phone is supposed to be on it's way to the service center. Just wish I could get a NEW replacement through Sprint/HTC instead of a refurbished/used phone.. That voids the manufacturers warranty, grrr!
