LOL Welcome to Windows Mobile...... At any rate...do what everyone is telling you and flash a custom rom. It really does improve the phone a LOT. But still...expect this type of thing with Windows Mobile...its just the reaility of it. I undsertand you had a good experience with the Mogul...and thats great....but its also rare (to take a winmo phone out of the box and use it as is with no tweaking or flashing). I also had a mogul..and I despised the damn thing.....but mostly for its clunkiness. Also, if the speed of the phone annoys you, try disabling touchflo3d and using some other ui or today plgins. I am anxiously awaiting poiuntui 2..once its out i am done with touchflo3d....

1. Hard reset your phone a couple times 2. For battery life, let it run all the way down and recharge a couple of times. I fly RC planes, and the batteries are the same, they must be trained. After doing the above the phone is good inside and out (performance wise). My battery would not make it through a day until I did number 2, now I can go a day and a half without recharge. I am running stock Alltell ram. So far as the discoloring, I did not have that problem, but did have chipping chrome. I put on the seido cover and don't see it anymore. It should have been good out of the box, but with any new product, the wrinkles have to get ironed out. For me it is a keeper.. |

Re: HTC is a disapointment
I love this phone but the battery makes me wanna throw it away. I only spoke on the phone for 20 minutes one day and the battery completely died after 4 1/2 hours of it being fully charged.

Why is it that I don't have any of these issues that people are always mentioning. Like the noisy battery cover? Or keys that dont stay level with screen. The camera button can be setup to function like a normal camera button (or rather the "action" key if you dont want to call it a camera button). I'm not getting defensive, I just think that the build quality of the phone is quite nice. Can't really help if some retard tried to pull the screen open the wrong way and bent the hinges, thats just plain stupidity. My only real gripe is the volume buttons, you can never really tell if you're pushing them or not and battery life. And the keyboard lights? Not really that big of gripe. I can still see all of them in the dark as opposed to my old 6700 which i could not see jack. I would rather have the keyboard lights be *slightly* uneven than sacrifice battery life for a couple more LEDs under there. I think HTC has made some major strides when it comes to improving the Windows Mobile hardware platform. Crap, look at their phones just 2 years ago. In another 2 years they'll probably have something that we'll all be really happy with. I'll keep on throwing cash their way so they can keep on R&Ding. Once the new version of Windows Mobile comes out, mobile 7, we might be happier also. MAYBE. And we'll definitely be happier when the new NANOTECHNOLOGY lithium ion batteries go into consumer production in a couple years. That will make the same size lithium ion battery last at least 10 times as long. They'll be able to package 13000mah in the same size package as our 1300mah battery. Can't wait for that! Imagine not having to charge your phone for over a week! --housinit Last edited by housinit; 02-07-2009 at 03:57 PM. |

The average user has no idea custom ROMs exist...... in fact, they don't even know what they are. A phone should be functional and dependable out of the box. |

Re: HTC is a disapointment
Actually, heres a quote about the nano batteries from an article I read a few months ago.
"This past week, Yi Cui, assistant professor of materials science and engineering at Stanford, announced success in expanding the energy storage capacity of lithium ion batteries by using silicon nanowires for the anode, which in current batteries are typically made of carbon. Silicon’s advantage over carbon is that it has a much higher energy capacity. However, silicon's drawback has been that as it absorbs positively charged lithium atoms during charging, it swells and then shrinks during discharge, resulting in cracks. Cui’s research shows that while the silicon nanowires still expand and contract, they don’t fracture. Use of silicon nanowires results in a 10x increase in energy storage, with the potential to last for over 1,000 cycles. (Actually laboratory cycles are currently in the tens, rather than thousands of cycles.)" |
