Re: Email sync with exchange question

ok...it seems like there is a "timeout" setting.
once i sync it...all emails comes through instantly for a bit and then stops again.
for how long i am not sure...

I think the reason why it works during the day is because i get constant emails...

hmmmm

That's not entirely accurate. The check every 5 minutes option downloads all the headers every time it polls the server whereas the as items arrive option maintains a heartbeat, and only downloads headers when new messages arrive. So while your phone might spend less time connected to the server, you're in fact pushing much more data.

Are you an exchange admin? If you are not have you checked with the IT guys? They might have an answer for you quicker than it might take to figure it out on your own
I use SPB Phone Suite for this very reason. It allows me to set a profile that during the night, only calls from certain numbers actually ring through, and everything else is muted.

Re: Email sync with exchange question

so...it looks like after about 3-4 hours of no email activity, the OTA function stops working.

any ideas why its doing this?
this is more of a phone thing now i think.

Sorry if I missed this in a previous post, but have you tried a hard reset with a barebones configuration afterwards? I use SBS2003 and it continuosly pushes...

Re: Email sync with exchange question

^ do you have sprint or someone else.
i think it has something to do with the network.
i had two sprint phones one mogul and the tp side by side and both after 3-4 hours stopped syncing OTA.

so i don't think its the server. is there a timeout setting on the sbs2003?

Not aware of an SBS timeout, and yes, I am on Sprint. I have not had any problems with my old Touch, current Touch Pro, or wife's Palm.

Have you tried a hard reset?

Have you looked at your firewall? Grasping at straws here...

Re: Email sync with exchange question

firewall is allowing https connections.
i mean it works at night too if i constantly receive emails.
i bet even during the day if i don't receive an email for 3-4 hours it'll stop working.

this is driving me nuts.
