Re: What's the best backup program?

dUDE, don t be quick to judge. If you like sprite or spb that is cool, I too like them and use them as well. On the other hand I do not get any errors with Resco, could be your settings or something in there. What version are you using? where do you have it installed?I just did a hard reset for the first time yesterday and all was well. i will be doing a back up in couple days and I doubt it will error out. Do you guys stop applications when backing up?

Yes, that is the version I tried.

I will wait until it is updated before trying it again, I simply don't trust it at this point.

Re: What's the best backup program?

It seems that both Resco & HTC BU are the type of programs that work well for some people & not at all for others.

The problem is, you can't really tell if it will work or not without actually trying it out & if a BU program fails you can really be out of luck.

Would you explain this statement a little, I don't really understand how a setting I made should interfere with a backup of the entire system. As far as "something in there", something like what ?? (& it really makes no difference what it is, if the BU program can't handle it then it is not a very good system IMHO)

There really shouldn't be one thing I can set that will interfere with a full system BU completing correctly. Even if the system was all f***** up, the BU program should still back it up & not throw off errors that don't make any sense.......

Ditto. And backup programs usually soft reset before starting, so #3 is pretty much a given. I downloaded straight from Resco's site.

If a backup program is getting errors based on my configuration and usage patterns, it simply means I should not be using that backup program.

Wish I knew about that sooner and will have to try it. Given it does not have all the features of Sprite backup I'll still keep using Sprite as my primary backup program though.

Regarding Resco and updates, I'll mention this now and didn't want to say it earlier, because I'm not trying to flat out trash Resco. I use several Resco tools that work great, especially Resco Explorer. But the Resco Audio Recorder didn't work with many screen resolutions for a time and Resco had been notified about it and promised an update. The first public record of Resco being notified of the issue and promising an update was February 2008. It took Resco till November to release that updated version which is their current version 4.51. (I mean we're not talking about a device ROM update, 9 months!)

So I treat Resco products as I really should treat all, if it does not work 100% when I try it I'm moving on to something else.
