Re: Some things Resco Backup has that Sprite and some other backup programs do not

Well, Resco has things such as incremental backups, which Hbenz2008 was asking about and I don't find that the concept of incremental backups exists at all in Sprite backup. (Incremental backups being a backup that provides updates for an already existing full backup file with changes made on the device since the previous backup.)

Resco also allows for a separate means to verify a backup file.

Resco allows to do a compare between a backup file and the device. To do things like see if the backup and the device are in 100% agreement or because of changes on the device if a new backup is nessesary.

Resco allows for comparing of 2 seperate backup files for differences.

Resco also has a means to track registry changes.
Cool, sounds like something I should try out.

My system is backing up with Resco right now, that definitely seems like a really slick program.

I will now be comparing SPB, Sprite, Resco & SK.

Well, as I was typing this the Resco finished. It said there where 92 errors??

Yea, same here. Mine just threw up 92 errors after running SPB & Sprite with no errors whatever.

I can't say I have a whole lot of faith in Resco at this point.

That's exactly how I felt.

I think I only got a few errors, but still, anything above zero is not comforting. No matter how many tests I tried I got errors.

Perhaps there are some files created by some programs that Resco backup has issues with?

No kidding. The last thing I want to see from my BU program is errors.

My system is loaded with programs & apps, is highly tweaked & running a custom ROM & everything works perfectly. The system is fast, stable & never freezes up.

For this program to indicate 92 errors is kinda crazy. I ran both SPB & Sprite in a row before Resco & neither one of them showed any errors. I know Sprite works fine at this point, I restored this system yesterday with Sprite & it is identical to how it was before the restore.

Re: What's the best backup program?

Man, this is getting weirder & weirder.

10 seconds after I completed the BU, without changing anything, I told it to "verify the last BU". When it got done running it must have listed 100 files that it claimed where "in the BU but not on the device"

WTF, I didn't change or delete anything..........

Re: What's the best backup program?

If 92 failed in the backup, 92 should have failed verification. For me, the number of errors during backup matched the number that failed in verification.

Yea, that's probably what it said. I didn't really care', as I would never trust this program at this point anyway.

I will probably delete it for now & wait for the bugs to be worked out, I don't think its quite ready for prime time (although I do like the feature set)
