Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

Been using my sprint TP for a month now and everything is pretty good except evdo throughput speeds are less than stellar compared to my mogul.

same location, same bandwidth testing via tethering, mogul used to get 1500-2000kbps down and 400 up.

with the Touch Pro i can't seem to ever exceed 1100-1200kbps down and 400 up.

can anyone else with both phones comment?

thanks! in bayarea california.

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

I can confirm this. Haven't broken 1100 down or 300 up on the TP, but my Mogul was hitting 1300 down and always over 400 up. Im near Seattle.

Anyone tried editing the max connections settings? What about TCP window size?

I've messed with max connections when im in the opera;config, i was under the impression that it only changed the max connections as per max tabs, so i always set those up the same, no problem there with 10 tabs 10 max connections

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

I have exceeded 1500 a couple times driving around Michigan. What concerns me right now, is that while streaming music/video, or often times while downloading larger files - the EVDO kicks out and I get 1X service until I stop the download/stream etc. and let the connection idle for a bit. Anybody else experience that?

This is exactly what happens to my phone. Say I am driving and streaming data, and I started in an EVDO area, then it goes to 1x and I get back into EVDO the phone stays streaming in 1x mode its really annoying. Until I stop the data connection and make it reconnect it only then goes back to EVDO.

MY Mougle Never had this problem and seemed to have higher throughput on the phone as well.

Is there a better Radio we can flash onto the phoen besides the stock sprint one?

I have to add in my two cents this this post (and others) about the being stuck in 1x mode. I actually have this issue on my Mogul. It'll randomly jump into 1x for no reason (even when it is in Ev-DO territory with 3+ bars. It is random too. It'll sometimes do that for a few minutes and at other times, it will be like for a few hours. Really annoying. I was hoping that my replacement TP would help me to avoid that, but I guess I should be ready for that. I did see this happen on my dad's TP, but I figured it might have been related to iPCS's crappy network.

I did call Sprint with my being stuck in 1x issue (it is documented in my customer notes) and the two techs I talked to had never heard of that issue. Perhaps we should make some noise about that?

I already made noise with Sprint about this before this thread was started. I called and complained about it jumping to 1X (while streaming music at a relatively low bandwidth) I can SEE the tower!! I have full bars, they never dip not even one bar and it still does this. The complaint is in my customer file as well. My PRL is up to date @ 60750.

When I called Sprint about having extremely low download speeds (65 kb/s) - they advised there was a data tower down, but it wasn't in my direct area, it was approximately 65 miles north. The closer I got to that downed tower (Edmonds, WA) the better my data speeds. Didn't make sense to me but that's that way it was.

The data speed test in my sig was done with my Mogul, and I got that speed consistantly. The Touch Pro (3rd one i've had replaced now) never got over 1100 kb/s down 3-400kb/s up. I have done all the speed hacks, and they have helped my download speed triple to what it is now. I am running a stock rom.

Come to think of it, the more I use the data, the slower it gets, hence the title of this thread. I used to use my phone for my main internet connection at home until I got cable interweb, we'll see what it yields as far as "throttling"

I actually thought I was going crazy the last few days. This is my EXACT issue.
