It is troubling to think with a newer device and faster processor, that sprint is limiting throughput on TP but not Moguls?? I've since sold my mogul so i can do back to back testing.

I'd say on average, im down a good 600kbps compared to my mogul's speed tests.
I have been wondering about this too, sometimes the Ev signal is very strong and other times, it goes to the 1x mode all of a sudden...

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

I've noticed the same thing, but don't think they're throttling as I've had it happen before on my 6700 and 6800. You don't have to reboot the phone either, just start a call which will force it to switch to 1X and then back to EVDO once the call is released.

It happens quite a bit with the stock Sprint radio firmware which seems to max out at around 1200kbps download speed, but less often with the Telus which I'm seeing 1500kbps+ with.

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

I have a question kinda relating to the topic. When i first got my TP, i was looking around in the settings (##778#) and noticed the evdo rev A said ENABLE. I remember quite a while back, there was a discussion about if ENABLE meant revA was disabled, and DISABLE meant revA was enabled. Can someone refresh my memory on which it should be? My speeds are so all over the place, i cant tell if revA is enabled or not. Thanks and sorry for the n00b question.

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

It used to be if it said disabled, it was enabled. Kind of backwards. Also this was on the touch and mogul and I don't know if the touch pro is different. I also thought that evdo was enabled by default. speeds have been wacky lately. this morning 750 kbps, two hours ago barely could break 200 kbps. now its back up to 800 kbps. very strange indeed.

I've also had the random switching to 1X. I'm on stock everything and this phone is really starting to work my nerves.

Yeah, i remember that when the revA rom was released for our moguls. Like you said, kinda backwards. Guess that's basically my question, is it still backwards or not? Thanks for responding.

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

Just a thought for yall....

When I first got my TP I was playing with it. (After a hard reset) And I noticed under settings there was "Update PRL".

When I touched that, it said there was an update for the PRL and I downloaded it and have had none of these problems.

PRL currently is 60750

Has anyone tried that out?

And here are my results from Speedtest. I remember reading somewhere that you know you have Rev. A by your upload speed. Does this look right?

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

I am perturbed that my slingplayer performance is unacceptable just like my old dinosaur Treo 700w and the framerate is very low (1 to 15 fps), even when outside walking the dog around the neighborhood. Sometimes it is good.

Sling over wifi in the house and it works great. Is the EVDO rev-A signal that weak? I thought it was supposed to be faster than the spec from over 3 years ago. Sling to work computer and it is flawless at 800 to 1100 kpbs with average framerate 25 fps so upload bandwidth is not the issue. Yes the EVDO indicator is on mostly and yes sometimes it drops to 1x for no reason whatsoever when using sling, inthernet or RPC app.

Re: Sprint Throttling evdo on touch pro

Well i ran some tests on http://performance.toast.net and i think ENABLE means it is enabled. When i ran an upload test with the setting DISABLE i got 130kbps and with it on ENABLE i got 700kbps. Probably not super accurate, but enough of a difference to see which is faster
