Better battery life - aGPS or QuickGPS?
Many folks seem quite happy with QuickGPS. Not being able to install it myself, I am not yet a believer that it does any good. But if the driver does indeed utilize the downloaded almanac than it would help with quicker locks. It also stands to reason that it should yield lower battery drain than aGPS. I believe aGPS requires a constant data connection while using GPS. Which means a) your phone is on and b) your data is on - both of which suck battery juice like a 7 year old sucks kool-aid. With QuickGPS you should be able to turn off the cellular radio. Or leave it on. Or listen to internet radio. Or whatever.
Any thoughts on this (other than "buy a car charger" )? Under what circumstances would aGPS be a better solution than QuickGPS?

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0
Thanks, but same thing. If I click the QuickGPS.exe file in /Windows, nothing happens.
If I click the shortcut in Programs, I get that certificate error. Sounds like I really wanna get this running, so any further help is appreciated. |

Anyway, the above is rhetorical - I don't have QuickGPS so I can't test it, and too many people swear by it for it not to work. I guess a hex edit trip through the GPS drivers could answer some of this... |

Try this... install sdkcerts.cab first ... softreset... then install qgps cab
If you download these files you should atleast take a second to click thanks..... Last edited by lllboredlll; 01-10-2009 at 10:28 AM. |
